I just paid €10 for one year of Usenet access, and I’m not sure why. (Before anyone says the obvious,
my provider is text-only.) Incidentally,
my test thread from tonight has the same subject line as
my test thread from almost exactly a year ago. I swear I didn’t do that on purpose.
Does anyone here have any favorite newsgroups? I created a
PayPal account for this, so I’d better use it.

9000 USD
No, I’m kidding. I was charged something like $16, counting the conversion fee and all. I’d prefer an American provider, but they all seem to cater toward binary newsgroups, making them much more expensive.

Per
year!
I like the decentralized nature of Usenet. With good spam filtering and a score file, you’re left with some enlightening material, especially in the comp.* hierarchy.
