So as you may or may not know, I'm a model builder. And I'm already thinking about what I'm going to build when I'm done with my Leopard 1. I have an attraction to modern German armour, and I've narrowed it down to two things:
The Marder I APC/IFV
OR
The Gepard Flakpanzer (Flugabwehrkanonenpanzer Gepard)

Keep in mind that I don't build models, nor know much about German armor, but imo, the Gepard both looks cooler and has a cooler sounding name.

The second one, but it would be much prettier painted blue and yellow.

Well Chris, its going to be a winter color scheme if the Gepard wins. (I'm doing this same poll at several forums) And right now the Gepard is leading. By the way, Gepard means Cheetah in German. They always name there stuff after cats, which is so cool. . . .except for the Marder, I'm not sure what that means anymore. Stasi, what is it?

Nope, not doing that. Besides other people do it all the time, mostly for WWII stuff.

SolidWorks is another nice one, but it's not free.
Blender is free and easy to learn. I went and bought a cheap book on it. It's a lot of fun.

I'd like to learn 3DS max, but thats not really a program you can just pickup out of nowhere. I can't even figure out how to make animation work properly. If I make a certain path, minute I want my object to turn, crap hits the fan. Starts turning at wrong time, and moves on wrong path etc...

Do you know of any solid modeling program that you can just pick up out of nowhere?
Solidworks requires the least training in my opinion. You don't need much knowledge of the program to make stuff.
CAD requires some practice and a few tutorials.
Blender requires tutorials and in my case a tutorial book. But it's also free and can do 3D animation.
