Barcodes and inventory

Any help at all would be greatly appreciated, so thanks in advance.

OK, our company imports products from over seas. We have about 10 different types of products but some have hundreds of choices.

An example being we import mosaic glass and stone tile. That is a category but we have several hundred different designs patterns and colors.

We go to several trade shows each year around the country. What we would like to have is a barcode on each item at the tradeshow. (To give you an idea we have a booth that is 30'x40' and have close to 600 unique products in the booth). If each item had a barcode, then each sales man would have a mobile(wireless) scanner to scan each item that that particular customer was interested in.

After they had made their selections in the booth, the salesman would walk over to the docking station and the SKU's would be transferred to the pc and would print off the Item # along with a small thumbnail of the item.

(All of our products have unique item numbers and we have photos of all of our products.)

What I am really looking for is a company that can sell us or design for us a system or program to make this happen.

Basically this is a glorified receipt that you get at the grocery store.

I know this is a rather difficult post to answer, but any ideas, again, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for your time,

Canaan Zeigler

umm...i'm not sure you need to pay a whole lot of money for something like that. In fact, it wouldn't suprise me if you could get something like that offline for free. Then you could easily program the scanner to recognize the right barcodes. Hell, there's a kid at my school who could probably write you a program in C that would read barcodes for you.

in fact, i just talked to said kid, and he told me about this printer called a "Zebra printer," apperantly, it just prints out barcodes on stickers and stuff. it comes with a program called "bar one light" which allows you to make your own barcodes.
however, the printer itself will cost a few thousand dollars, but if you need it for what you say you do, it sounds like it's worth the money.

hope it helps =D
