Interesting that a variety of groups welcome an active program of male genital mutilation to curb the spread of HIV....

It's also kind of hypocritical. But then again, male genital mutilation is quite deeply embedded into American and to a lesser degree, European culture, so it doesn't surprise me that this is actually being actively pursued in the fight against the spread of HIV in Africa.

I just found this article from early April:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/17965665/
City health officials are considering a program to urge circumcision for men at high risk of AIDS, noting studies that the procedure can reduce the chances of getting the disease.
I found an article that is critical of the studies conducted in Africa on circumcision and HIV transmission rates:

I know the perfect cure to HIV and other MTSes:
Don't have sex with someone other then your married partner!
And both married people should also be checked prior to having sex, but I would think 99.5% of MTSes are from people that are not married because they have sex with so many different people.
Theres also other ways of getting MTSes such as blood contact and such, but most is probably from sex.
