Which (if any) Role Playing Games do you play or used to play?
*Inspiration from The Shniz*

I used to play Neverwinter Nights for a long time, and recently got Neverwinter Nights 2, but no one plays it online. So I dropped it. A friend of mine got me to download the City of Heroes 14 day demo, and I've become hooked, so I'm going to get the game in a few months or during the summer. The only thing I don't like about it is you have to pay about $15 a month if you buy it by the month. It's as low as $11 if you buy by the year.

GASP! I played Cito of Heroes awhile back. I had fun with it, but once I started flying around and noticed that it was boring, I gave up.

How is Neverwinter Nights? It looked fun, but I've never actually picked it up to actually played it.

I feel a bit bad for my mom for paying for my FFXI, it's about 17$ a month, because I have four characters, so I might actually go get a job soon. So she won't have to worry about it too much.

Last time I was on NWN 1 was more than a year ago, and I had noticed before I stopped playing, there were no where near as many playing as when I started. And like I said, not too many on NWN 2. The 1player NWN 1 is alright, but it seems a little repetitive after a while.

And why did CoH get boring for you? Did you just fly all day something?

Ah, Neverwinter is getting abandoned?

and yeah, pretty much. I couldn't find anything to do. I'm not much of a quest person myself, and that game mostly consists of quests, methinks. I only got to about level 15-20. I can't remember. It just felt, to me, that it wasn't worth the money I had my mom paying for it, so I got off it. But they send me e-mails from time to time demanding I come back. Blah.

But yeah, I guess you'd have to play FFXI in order to see a difference. I mean, FFXI solely caused me to lose interest in console games and other things, but that's probably because I am an addict to it :P but yeah, if you haven't played FFXI, then I recommend you play CoH, because it CAN be fun. Just not for me

I don't know for sure if NWN is getting abandoned, I just noticed a decrease in attendance. But that was a year ago, things may have changed. What I loved about the multiplayer on the game was the vast amount of servers on it. Don't like the one you're on? Then go to one of the hundreds of others in either Action, PvP, Roleplaying, Tech Support (which I always thought was weird), Team, Solo, Party etc! It really was a great game.

CoH is heavily quest based. I figured that out from playing at a friends house. There's really not a whole lot to do other than kill randomly spawned guys or jump around the building tops (mind you that is fun in and of its own) if you're not doing a quest.

Final Fantasy XI is heavily based along leveling and knowing that you will never have enough money to support yourself all the way to the maximum level, since it is very, very hard to come by. 1 million currency in that game is being broke in itself. D:

That might have been why I didn't like CoH. I don't like doing quests so much, requires alot of moving around and backtracking to the place you were just in only to find out you don't remember where you just were.

A tech support channel? BATTLE IT OUT IN THE ALL NEW..TECH..SUpport....

One time I went into the Tech Support area to see what was there. Nothing. But I wasn't the only one in the Chat Area. Irony: Shortly after going to the Chat Area to see what the Tech Support was here for my computer crashed. Not kidding. I remember that day clearly. . .

I used the wrong word for CoH. It should be "Mission" not "Quest". Missions are usually short, and they get better (in my opinion) the more you do. But I do think there are some quests.

Or who knows, maybe its all one big quest made up of lots of missions.

Ultima Online, I've never played the original Ultimas though. A college friend got me into UO about 2 years ago and now I'm hooked, and even run my own server. As interesting as WoW seems I don't want to get into it. :D

Outside of Kingdom of Loathing, it's been awhile since I've played any RPGs online. Once upon a time I was heavily into Diablo 2 though and was on Battle.net on a daily basis. None of my characters quite made it to 99, but I have some in the 70s at least. Probably one in the 80s as well. who knows, that was a long time ago, and they are all long since expired.

Currently I'm playing (not online) Titan Quest and Final Fantasy V Advance. Will probably check out the multiplayer on Titan Quest once I get tired of the single player.

I've got Final Fantasy 12 and Dragon Quest 8 sitting on the back burner. Actually all I have left with FF12 is to get around to killing the final boss. It's the curse of final fantasy, with all the sidequests and what not, I rarely get around to actually finishing the game before I get tired of it.

oh, and since we are talking about rpgs... EARTHBOUND ROCKS!!! :P If only we could get Mother 1 and 3 over here in the US... (Earthbound is actually the English port of the Japanese Mother 2)

yep. the client is free, but you technically have to pay per month to play, or you can join a free server such as mine (recommended :P) for free. EA is not really against free servers so they're pretty much legal.

The original Ultimas are wonderful. I still play them occasionally. Gameplay over graphics.... Anyway, if you have the original Dungeon Siege game, you can download the rendition of Ultima 5 at www.u5lazarus.com . An excellent, excellent game in its own right.

Right now, far as RPG's, I'm playing NWN 2 through for the first time, and I'm replaying Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines (another wonderfully excellent game).

I think it's still a rumor, but they're bringing Mother 1, 2 and 3 to the DS. But, I think it's still a rumor. I'll look around for it.


Edit: Hm. Seems it looks like it's still Japan only, and for the Game Boy Advance

Yeah, I wasn't really counting on them coming to the US on the GBA or DS, as awesome as that would be. It seems at this point the best chance of them making it over here is on the Wii Virtual Console.

Haha, this is true. I've got a couple weeks of time of coming up - I think I'll start the game back up then, or at least mess around a lot with the editor, which does look pretty cool... complicated as heck, but interesting.
