I'm waiting on my new PC. It's a Dell PowerEdge 2850, fully loaded. Should handle it, I think.

My brother built a comp for a customer and he installed vista on it. I only got to see some of the features but it looks pretty good. But it seemed it was more fitting for office / working.

I would install it on a desktop here somewhere between 'never', 'when it is free', and my systems are anywhere near those absolutely ridiculus hardware requirements. That third one is the only one that will happen and not for a loooong time probably as my 6 year old systems are doing quite wonderful for me still.

I can always guarantee MS has tons of shares in hardware companies. Think of how many people decided to buy a quad core system fully loaded so they could upgrade to vista.

Didn't see this one... dont get a dell for vista I suggest a HP pc for better running of vista just because it requires so much to have it work.

I have to say this. I've never seen Dell support have to come out here to work on a server, but I haven't seen SUN support come out here either (for a server, those darn tape libraries are another matter). However neither of those statements mean much as 90%+ of our servers are HP :P hell out of 450+ there's probably only 15-20 Dells.

Dell corporate support is actually pretty good. They usually send someone/or parts/or both within hours, if not, next day.

But what they're bad at is sending the WRONG part, multiple times.

Or the time the newly ordered tape drive was pooched. Instead of just sending another tape drive, they send the tape drive, rackmount kit, box of 30ish tapes. So sure, the original order included all that, but if its just the tape drive not working, just send us the tape drive. :P
