Site incompatibility & you

Certainly web developers are more concerned about interoperability these days, but how often do you find that a web page doesn’t work with your browser?
Of course, I primarily have “optimized for Internet Explorer” pages in mind, but I can see IE users left out as the more W3C- and WHATWG-compliant alternatives gain market share.
I don’t rememeber the last time I encountered an (X)HTML-based site that didn’t function at all under Firefox. (I spend most of my time reading technical material, so maybe I’m the exception.) However, things look funny somtimes, and I assume they would’ve looked right under IE. I make sure that web services work with Firefox before I pay for them. If some features don’t work, I exclude them when doing comparisons with other providers.
