Novocaine

I had a tooth worked on yesterday. I just hate the tingly feeling I get when the novocaine wears off, but I'm really thankful that novocaine exists. I would hate to have lived 100 years ago before novocaine was developed. That's just a guess about the date. I'm not sure when it was developed.

There was a crack in one of my back molars. I can either have a root canal and a crown put in for a total of 1600 dollars, or have the tooth pulled for about 250 dollars. I'm opting for getting it pulled.

They used other pain killers. Like drugs that today are illegal.

Your comment reminded me of a thread that I started about opium. This one.

I was going to start a thread about my trip to the dentist today, but then I remembered this thread. I can't beleive it's been three years already since I had that tooth pulled. Anyway, I had a stainless steel cap put on one of my teeth this morning. It doesn't bother me that one of my teeth is now a different color than the rest. The stainless steel cap cost 600 dollars less than a cap that would have matched my other teeth.

I still hate the way my mouth feels when the novocaine is wearing off.

firstly, back in the day, they'd have just knocked you out.

secondly, have you ever had them put that mask on your nose and make you breath in some kind of oxygen and some other gas that makes you feel amazing all over? It's the best thing...like...you can't feel your body. I kept lifting my arms up and looking at them oddly, to make sure they were still there, which made the dentist laugh. It was epic...
But coming down from that crap...is messed up...
they just took away the other gas and let me breathe oxygen for like 5 minutes to "clear out my system." Then they said i was good to drive home...it was messed up...

Laughing gas. That stuff is weird. I never really liked the feeling I got from breathing it. But maybe it would be enjoyable if there wasn't a big drill in my mouth lol.

oh i was so out of it i didn't care. they used the gas to numb me, then they gave me the novicane because I hate shots.
I didn't know what she was doing at all, and I really didn't care. Everything was so wonderful...
She was the best dental hygenist ever...
