I recently got my concealed weapons permit and bought my first handgun due to the fact the world is a crazy place full of crazy people.

Does anyone else on here carry a hand gun or own one for protection?

The only gun we have in the house is too big and heavy to carry, and probably does not work. So to answer your question, no. But I can see how it would be needed in some places. sad but true. There are some people out there that should not even be alive.

I have a big pocket knife I use for various things from opening boxies to cutting wire, so would make a decent weapon if a robber came in. The blade probably has enough infectionus material on it to really leave a mark behind. My room is carpet though, so I'd have to catch the robber before he get's in. Blood is hard to clean off carpet.

While I don't have a concealed weapon permit, I do own an AK-47 and an AMD-65, both for protection and the fun of going out shooting occasionally.

Those can hurt. You stab somebody in the neck, then force them open. Makes a mess though, this is why guns are sometimes better then melee weapons. Mind you guns can make a mess too since the bullet will probably go through the head and hit something else, perhaps a window.
