Which standard do you think is better?
I think 568B is better. It's newer, so it has to be better.

Is one technically superior to the other, or do they just have a different wire order?

Different wire order, but still. B is better! They transfer faster because of the color, which affects the electron flow!

568A says that it is "preferred" right on the graph, so it must be better.

different color code standards for patch cords.
I need to start this debate at a huge computer forum like ars or something. You should see the people there, they'll actually take it seriously too.

it doesn't matter which one is used, and they are both completely equal. in fact, 568a cables can be used on a 568b network seamlessly.
that said, 568b is used much more than 568a.

Why was 568B created then?
I don’t know what to pick. 568B is used more frequently, but it seems not to be superior to 568A. I just hate the idea of two standards though. I think the government should fine people who use 568B in lieu of 568A. Government can never be too big!
Thank you, Red and Fragged. I know something new now.

Actually if you make one end A and the other B you get a cross over so I think it's the only reason there's two standards, but if both ends are the same it does not matter.
