being brief

A graduate from Bible college was being interviewed by the pastor and the
board of deacons to fill the vacancy of junior pastor.
The interview was going quite fine, until one of the deacons asked the
applicant if he knew how to be brief and still get his message across to a
congregation.
"I sure do," responded the applicant. "I always remember the first rule of
public speaking: Be brief, no matter how long and drawn-out you have to be."
