It apears Rita is in or near Houston where we are hosted and may hit the data centre. Curently a main router between me and the server has been hit and I am accessing the site via a proxy.

If you experience downtime it may be due to the hurricane. I am curently doing backups of all databases to have the most up to date backup, but if the backups don't work out the latest backup is about a day day old.

That's what I figured too, but I guess there's still after effects.

Been doing more research as to if it's related to rita or after effects (most likely as the huricane itself already hit) but houston weather actually seems to be calm right now so it must be a different router. I was too quick on the trigger. Seen an email in my inbox about rita possibly affecting the DC but now that I've researched more into the issue it does not seem to be directly related.

Could this be the reason?

hmm could have been, cogent and L3 are both huge internet link providers, even though I'm not going through any of their circuits to get to the server, it could be that some of those circuits such as above and ev1 are relying on Cogent or L3.
