People using the Microsoft Update and Windows Update sites will no longer be able to download Windows add-ons and updates -- including security fixes -- from those sites without first going through an automatic online validation process.
OK, so who's buying a MAC?
Linux anyone?
Mines legal, is yours?
How much pressure will this put on the harware companies to write drivers for linux and/or mac if this pushes more people to other OS's?

The whole guinune advantage crap does not work. I went to download an update, I had to run the validation tool on my PC, I did it, and well, it still worked. I can't see how some peice of software can know wether or not I paid for windows before installing it. Paid or not, the installation process is not any different.

I rarely do windows update, I install service packs, and download patches for worms, and I'm good. Most worms travel accross networks anyway, so if I have a firewall router it won't get in unless I put a machine in the DMZ or something.

I hate OEM PCs for that. I'd never buy an OEM PC, unless it was like a crazy good deal, and I just wanted to install linux for a server or something.
