Anything Forums

Rather then check all the IPs, I'd like to know if anyone here is on a proxy most of the time, such as work, school, AOL, etc...

I'm thinking of temporary blocking proxies alltogether, but don't want to do that if too many of you do use proxies.

I'm on Bellsouth, and I don't think they offer a proxy server or anything. Not sure.

Most decent ISPs don't have any stuff like that, I think it's mostly AOL and other ISPs that require to use specific software. Anyhow, I will be running some kind of test before I even deploy this, and I did not even start working on it yet, and I might not even bother, it's just an idea that poped in. During high alert situations I could just jack up the security and set the blocker.

Just realized if I do deploy this I can just put proxy exeptions or something, or make it so if you're registered it bypasses the block. Not easy to do but possible, and when it comes to security I go to the extreme. (the pentagon would love to hire me I'm sure. lol)

It's basically a gateway server so you connect to it, and from that server you connect to another site, so in their logs they get the proxy IP instead.

Do a google search for "proxies" you'll find allot. You only want to use these when you really have to though (ex: if you're blocked from a site and need to see it) since they're usually slow and most of them die after a while.

It's like people PC, but without the people.. They find the fastest number for you, so you don't have to worry about connecting!
