I was thinking about this recently...has it ever occured to anyone how limited the mention of Satan is in the old testament vs. the new testament. I was pondering reasons for this, and I think that the reasons for this stem back to the whole "old school" vengeful god(old testament) vs. the new caring god in the new testament. People were beginning to wane on the validity of christianity, so they invented a more maniacal gimmick and villain the second time around (in lucifer). He already scored minor points with the whole revolt against heaven/screwing over adam and eve...yet after that he remained virtually unmentioned. In the new testament he is repeatedly addressed. Satan isnt as bad as we all make him, most of the preconceptions about his appearance/personality/intellect come from the leaders of religious factions or popular culture. Religious leaders grabbed hold of the hellfire version of satan and made it sound like those who didnt live their life for God were damned to eternal fires of hell. Once this was made more clear to all, churhces started to pack up, people repenting for everything from masturbation to impure thought. Satan as he is known today is nothing but an archetypal image invented by christians to scare people into believing. Other religions dont even acknowledge Satan. I just think that christainity isd once again guilty of making things up to scare its believers. However, i will admit, if Satan is real, hes doing one hell of a job being business partners with religion, I mean that sect of religions is currently the largest in the world. Good job Satan, and may your partnership with Christianity continue to prosper

Freaky thought. Well satan can't be christianity's friend since satan wants to assimilate people into the dark side away from christianity.
May God be with us all!

Hey, don't worry about it. A few years ago, the Pope got ride of purgatory so I'm sure Satan will be next. Then BAM! Back to the vengeful GOD. Everyone dies. Even the animals. Those are some great stories. I like the one about the whale.

Well, what you're saying about 'vengeful God' is when He was making way for His Son to come down to earth, and give His people the proper land and devotion to oneself. Satan is just a form of evil, and anyone can do things evil thanks to Satan. It may not be Christianity's best friend, but it does seem to go along, hand-in-hand. We can't stop ourselves from doing something wrong all the time.
But, the more 'nicer God' is when His son had already taken away the sacrificial offerings and everything. This last many years we have on this earth are trials WITHOUT God, but if we choose to believe in Him, He will be there for us. But He's not going to do His work for us. That's why we had to go out into the world and tell people about His Word. It's kind of like earning God's trust. You can't earn it until you die.
And, just to let you know, God didn't create evil. It's something Satan did. God had everything to a perfect sense. And Lucifer, the angel He created, decided He could be just like God himself. Thus, turning this temptation onto other angels, and that's what started this whole chain of events. Through temptation this all started, and continues onward with jealousy and hatred. Satan just bends whatever God made into something he wants, but he does not have the power to destroy, only the power to tempt. And if you follow that path into temptation, then you've done the exact opposite of what God has wanted.
See, God has a plan for all of us, non-believers and believers. We all have a part in His great plan for the second coming of Christ. We may make it happen sometime in the future. We may make it happen tomorrow. You never know what will happen.
These kind of things are like video games that are online, in a sense. Like, let's say Call of Duty, for an example. World War II, you have your allies and your enemies, all fighting each other. You can't see them, but you know they're there. But, they may not. And some actions may cause you to save other peoples lives, even at the cost of your own.
See, with that. Your allies are Christians, But, the enemies are like Satan, and the people he has a hold of. By those 'actions' I was talking about up there, you talk to the enemies, loosen the grip Satan has on them. Let them know they are loved, and that God has a plan for them. They're not someone who's evil, or bad, or anything. No man is evil. They may have evil ways, but no man is evil. Let them have a choice, let them see that you're not afraid of dying, because, even if you did, you would know where you would be. You would have your salvation, and you could rest easy knowing you tried to save someone, through the help of God.
Man is only afraid of death, because he is uncertain where he will go. Trust in God, and you won't have to be afraid of death.
As much as your theory goes, I'm not going to believe that Satan helps Christianity move forward, or anything like that. Satan would rather kill us all, then have Christianity.

Paragraphs hurt my eyes too, that's why I didn't bother to re-read what I wrote to see if it made any sense. *shrugs*
