Trivia question help

There's this coded message that I need help with as I have no idea how to decode messages. The coded message is:
mtelvjoblgfiudhfawebm
And the key is:
maleriaisstupid
If anyone can help me out I'd be very happy. Also, if possible, can you show how you did it so I know how to do for future reference? Thanks in advance for any and all help.
Edit: I can't believe she made a mistake in the message

It's for a class I'm taking at the moment and today was the first day. I had no idea that it would include decoding. I just need someone to show me how to decode things like this so that in the future I can do it myself.
