It's not news anymore.......it's entertainment.

The answer is no. My opinion.

The only news channel I trust is Sky. They are always fair and a hell of a lot better than Fox and CNN and the like.

But they seem to avoid all the bias that seems to be lumped on American news providers. They are always neutral, and from what I saw in their coverage on the Nov elections, didnt lean towards Bush or Kerry.

EDIT: Is Fox owned by Murdoch aswell?

Yes, Fox is part of The News Corp.

As for Sky, I've never seen it, but I imagine it's easy for them to be neutral towards American affairs, but I bet they have some sort of slant when it comes to European matters.

Never trust anything without knowing why it is that way, always have several sources for things you believe. It's really not hard to read past mainstream bias in the media.

I dont think it is though. Right now there is alot of talk about the upcoming UK elections and all partys have gotten equal say. And any bias that may be portrayed on the UK version, will be gotten rid of on the Irish version (which is only on for a couple of hours a day).

Equal say doesn't equal a lack of bias, how they gear the thoughts of the viewers does. Not that I know about Sky.

Before, I would say yes. Because I would expect a large news company to be serious and honest and not fool around with what it tells us.

Unforunatly, I was way wrong in my thinking, especially after hearing that sadam's capture was not even real. It was just a made up story. They did catch him, it just did not happen the way they said.

Not really a big issue but it still shows that they manupulate stuff, and I totally lost my trust in news after hearing of this, (and other small incidents).

I'm sure there's plenty of big stuff we don't know about, or know wrong.

And I do agree that it's entertainment now. I'll stick to local news. What is there to lie about when it comes to a mill laying off 20 people, or the city canceling the spring cleanup. :P

I dont think it is though.
And that's exactly what the right-leaning conservative might say about Fox, or the left-leaning radical might say about FAIR.

OK let me say it another way. My friend is a Socialist and he doesnt think its biased, I'd be right wing and I dont think that its biased. I have never heard any complaints about it from anyone no matter what their political stance.

News on the TV tends to represent a handfull of viewpoints, whereas on the web, you can find MANY sources so as to build your own viewpoint.

In my opinion the only way I would trust news would be if it was publically funded, otherwise it's just entertainment looking for ratings.

Curious as to the topic of Sadams capture not being done in the manner that I watched on the News. When was this revealed and how did you find out?. As to topic, I recently watched the movie/documentary "The Corporation" were it revealed that manipulating and lying in the news is not against the law, so I guess they can say whatever they want. Scary.
I hope CBC is not as bad as all American stations. Is it?.
