Never played it before, but I gotta admit, all I've heard about this game is horrible things.

Is the expansion for space fighting any good?

It's actually not a bad game if you have a group of people you can regularly get on with since to progress to any meaningful level you practically have to group. You're not self-sufficient for a pretty long while.

Not anymore, Stasi!

Yeah, it's not a horrible game...I played it for about 6 months and was up to being a "Jedi Padawan".

The game used to be more fun because, as Stasi says, you used to have to group with people to actually make it in the game for your first couple of months playing.

Now it's gotten to the point where everybody pretty much runs solo.

With reduced shuttle times (from 10 mins to 5), Jump To Lightspeed (instant shuttle), vehicle mounts, solo groups, uber armor....the game has gotten to be way too easy.

And boring.

Plus, the grind to become even a Jedi Knight is designed to take at least a year to complete.

And that's with someone who can pretty much dedicate their life to playing the game 3 or more hours a day.

If you're a casual/weekend player you seriously will probably never become a Knight.

I deleted my char and cancelled my subscription about a month ago...and swore off all MMORPG'S!

They just take up way too much time!

That is, if you want to be good at them...you have to pretty much give up your social life.

well i've been playin for 200 days exactly, and i almost have a dark jedi knight...so it hasn't been a year...and i didn't start on the grind until publish 10 came out...which was like....2 months after i started.
and i don't dedicate my life to swg, i go to school...work sometimes and still hang w/ my friend
i guess i'm just a powergrinder and i know how to play the game....i love it...and can't quit, no matter how many times i've tried, lol i can't quit, i have a family in swg...team speak....and its like we are really bros and sis's, as for other mmorpgs ive tried others...matrix online...terrible game, hated it, music nice, great potential.but graphics are very very poor and as well as the controls and battles.
But, if u want to be a casual player...swg would work....pick up a crafting profession...doctor...or even a pvper w/ a template and just get on and go overt every weekend or something(only a jedi is high mantenance, everything else, is low cost)

See, that's what I mean...almost 7 months of playing/grinding and you almost have a Jedi Knight??

And you'd think after all that, you'd be pretty uber, right?

Nope.

A Jedi Knight still gets it's arse kicked by most of the melee templates, especially the stackers.

The only thing that sort of helped jedi out was when they gave them their own damage type, instead of melee.

The game sucks no, in my opinion. Once the secret on how to become a jedi came out, after which they changed it to make it take longer, it hasn't been the same.

Now it seems like everyone and their mother is grinding out for jedi. No more groups, rarely any guild hunts (and when there are the rare ones, everyone wants to loot so they can get crystals, etc), hard to get anybody to help you anymore if you need it.

It really started to piss me off that you'd see people who'd been playing the game for like one week having a full set of composite armor of any quality, a speeder bike, and tons of pets?

i almost have a k night, meaning, all ihave to do is kill an elder, a spider and agiank krayt...and my template, is uber enough, i've tankin on a gank squad of meleers'''i'm a stacker jedi.
and like i said...i played for a good while before i started the jedi grind.
so...i've had my jedi for about 4 months, in the world of MMORPG's this is a short time.
however, we all have our opinion, i happen to love this game.
so....until i find somthin else, its SWG
