Well I've just discoverd the world of rss ( RDF Site Summary or Rich Site Summary)

I know that most people that use these readers use them for reading blogs or news headlines but I have been using my reader for reading comics. :D

Anyone else use an rss reader?

I don't use a RSS reader, but I use Firefox's "Live Bookmarks" with the RSS feeds to keep up on me news :D

I've played around with an rss reader or two, but in the end I never use them that much. I always just end up going to the respective website. I do use live bookmarks all the time though, and on occasion I'll use the one built into thunderbird.

I love the concept, and it's really handy for a lot of things, but most of the time, when I want the information I would get from a rss feed, I already have firefox open anyway.

I couldn't get it to work in thunderbird. It wouldn't display in the preview pain. The links showed up but no display.
I have also checked out the rss function in Firefox as well.

If you're using thunderbird, put this in as an rss feed:

Code: Select all

http://dwlt.net/tapestry/pearls.rdf
Let me know if it works. It works in firefox and in feedreader but not thunderbird.
It won't display for me.

I have a feed on my site. When I found out about RSS and how simple the syntax was, figured I'd make a feed. :D

I assume that your talking about Ice Teks?
What is the feed and how do you let members know about it? I looked at the site and could not find it. Or do you have to be a member to see it?

~EDIT~
Never mind....I found it. ;)

GOOD GOD MAN!
I put your feed in my reader and I got the posted articles from Ice Teks AND 2 new folders (Moreover & Estonian feeds) added also. These 2 folders(moreover and estonian) have a buttload of feeds. I mean alot. Were those suppose to be added with your article feed?

Nope, mine is a single feed of the news on the home page. I think moreover is there by default with feedlreader, if that's what you use.

Yea, it might be the default but it didn't show up until I hit your rss feed. weird.
Do most readers have built in available feeds by default?

It's a small program that quickly scans many/hundreds of news headlines, blogs or just about anything is put up in XML.
It reminds me alot of reading news groups. Looks similar. Red has an rss feed for his other forum headlines. I like it. I scan headline news, tech news and obscure news. But I mostly read daily comics with it. :D
I love the funnies. I have feeds from 8 comic strips.

The reader I use is small, simple, open source, free, easy to use and organize.
It's called FEEDREADER.

Firefox has an rss reader SAGE that is more like a traditional reader. It's nice. If you use live bookmarks you might want to check it out..

I'm gonna try and get the spell checker to work.
