Emergency Room

I had to take a trip to the emergency room last night. I was going down the steps to my basement, and on the bottom step, my ankle twisted underneath me, and I heard a loud "crack." The pain was terrible, and my oldest daughter got a little frantic and called my wife at work. I didn't want my wife to get overly worried, so I hopped up the stairs and over to the phone. I had to sit in a chair as I talked to her because I felt a bit lightheaded. The next thing I know, my daughter is saying, "Dad, Dad," and I'm lying on the floor, and all my kids are frantic because I had passed out. Anyway, the X-rays didn't show any breaks, so I don't know what the "crack" was, but I still can't put any weight on the foot.

Wow that's scary. Get well, and glad it was not broken. That's the worse thing since it's screwed up for life after that.

The only good part is that I'm not going to deliver mail tomorrow in below-zero temperatures. I hate missing work, though. I usually feel bad about calling in sick even when I'm really, really sick.

Man get well. Just stay off that foot until you feel you can put wieght on it. Is there any swelling, bruising?

The whole side of my foot is one big bruise.

You should be relieved. According to this, you merely have a wrench in your foot.

I know your pain! in football last year my wrist/hand got stepped on by a 250 pound guy and i broke my wrist (during the scrimmage before actual games started), it swelled up to the size of my shoulder the next day, luckily i had lots of adrenaline going through me so i played through it.

Later that year after getting my cast off (after four months) i was wrestling (about half way through the season this time) my thumb still hadn't gained all its range of motion back yet (my thumb was in a fixed position while in the cast). during the first period i sprained my thumb on the mat. i wrestled another match but i couldn't do any more after that. the morning after that my thumb was about the size of my elbow.

I missed work both times....

Glad I never broke a limb in my life. I almost electrocuted myself to death, burnt myself, blew up myself, vaporized myself, but never came close to breaking a limb, well maybe that time I strained my wrist, but it happened so fast I had no clue what happened to it, it was just painful and super big.

I'm able to hobble around on it today, so it is slowly getting better.

I'm going back to work tomorrow, even if I have to hobble around. I did some driving today, and at least those motions don't bother the ankle anymore.

Work as in delivering mail? Should't you take like a few weeks off? Since that's some heavy work on the ankle, especially in the cold. Not sure how it works in the states though, I know here you can get a doctor's note and the boss has to let you take the time off, if it's in a condition that needs rest.

I actually should take a few more days off rather than a few weeks, and my boss had no problem with me doing so, but I don't like making the other carriers do extra work when I can just tough it out. A number of years back, I totaled my vehicle on the way to work, smacking my head against the windshield. I got a ride the rest of the way to work, and worked half a day before I had my wife pick me up.

Yeah true, but you might damage it more if it's not properly healed. But go by what the DR says he would know more then me. :D (well I hope, and I'm sure you do too lol)

Ha, All the ads are for ankle sprain treatment and ankle braces and stuff. Those psychic ad things are cool.

EDIT: Just noticed the ones Red posted. They were differant ads though.
