I would like to find some FREE online storage for like songs and video clips etc. I've been looking forever on and off, like a year now. Can anybody help? Does anybody have a bunch that they wouldn't mind sharing with me? Any ideas?

I really doubt you are going to find a reliable free source to put large file under, it just doesn't make sense economically. You might be able to find some free hosting, but there won't be much room and usually, in my experience, the are kinda slow or unreliable.

Get into the warez scene some have ftp servers and they won't mind you storing stuff though it's not really private so if you have private stuff then it might not work out but if you have stuff that anyone could make use of such as music, then it will work that way.
Crap, did I mention warez, as in illegal?
Well let's just assume your files are strictly music, that way it's legal. (well in Canada anyway)
But yeah tis hard to find free storage since nobody feels joly. If you find some, they probably have a file size limit. Tripod for example won't let you have files bigger then 512KB (half a meg) or something like that.

I don't know what the file size limits are at gmail, but it's pretty decent considering. That might be a good way to go if you just want to upload a file and just retrieve it somewhere else, not so much if you want to show it to a bunch of people.

How do I go about using the file storage at gmail as to having a url to that file?

Would I just email something and add an attachment?

yeah, essentially you just email the files to yourself as attachments and download them from your mailbox. Though there is a
handy shell extension that works in windows to make things easier.

Illegal software (i.e. software that you need to pay for, but can get for free)
There's plenty of these places, though I seriously doubt they will let you use their ftp for trivial storage. They use gigs of bandwidth everyday, they won't have time for yer storage

Oh man that thing is awesome. I'm using it like a server. I can use a whole account just to upload things onto like songs and movies and then my friends can get them off me.

if you need a place to host images and pictures and stuff,
www.photobucket.com is great and totally free.
As for video clips and sounds and stuff, you might just wanna get Limewire or iTunes or something.
