There's lot of waste that they don't know what to do with so they go dump it in the ocean. I was thinking, they should build a huge rail gun or solonoid of some sort that would generate enoguh magnetic power to launch a few hundred tons directly towards the sun. At the same time, it would give a few minutes extra to the life of the sun.

The concept would be rather simple too, you only need so much power to get to space, once the projectile (most likely a metal tank the size of a house full of compressed waste) leaves the earth's gravity pull, whatever power it has left will simply keep it moving away from earth, and if properly planed and calculated they could launch it at the sun, or at least away from the galaxy.

Cost would be an issue, but I'm sure it would be cheaper then what they spend to send rockets in space, since all they would need to send is the tank, but the main device (the rail gun) would stay on earth.


Just a wacked idea I came up with that could start discussion.

...a bigger issue would be what introducing new element into fission at that rate would do, it could hick-up, stop, and cause some catastrophic event. Lets not mess with the sun, okay?

Obviously they'd have to research all that, but given the size of the sun I don't think it could do something, but even sending it out of the galaxy would work.

But they'd have to test this so much before actually putting chemicals. Imagine if it would not make it outside of earth and land back.

That there Marianas Trench is pretty deep. Send a tank down there and the pressure will compact it too.

Yeah that works too, and if it comes back somewhere we'll know where black holes lead to.
