Alternative reality presidential run

What would the presidential race look like if Bush had never invaded Iraq? Let's assume for the sake of discussion that we still had removed the Taliban from power. Let's also assume (and you can correct me if this is an unwarranted assumption) that Saddam is still playing cat-and-mouse games with the inspectors, and even though the inspectors have found nothing, we are still unsure if a secret facility is being hidden somewhere.
Kerry mentioned in one of the debates that he thinks Bin Laden would have been captured if we had not diverted our resources to Iraq. Wouldn't his capture have provided Bush with an almost unsoppable political advantage? And wouldn't the Democrats have responded that "Yes, we caught Bin Laden. But what has Bush done about the threat of Saddam?"
Also, wouldn't Bush be benefiting from a greater economic situation due to all this money not going into Iraq?
I know this is all total speculation, but I'm just curious what others think.
