Windows update had a new update for IE even if you do not use IE its still required

you need it because IE is part of the Operating System so bug related to IE a related to the OS too

IE isn't part of the OS;
You can still remove IE from windows with a seperate program, Microsoft is just a bunch of arsehats

not exactly, youi can remove the excutable and some components but all the other stuff is integrated in the OS (I'm speaking of Windows NT based systems, NT 4 excluded)

Still for your safety and others get every update but if their is some hardware updates Don't mind them.. if your systems hardware is working fine then leave thos updates alone... For example i have an AC 97 audio card Microsoft had an update to it . i downloaded it restarted the PC..Then i swear Red was coming thought my speakers.. No joke
so i had to uninstall it and that was a pain in the butt to remove.

never have used SP1 and no plans to install this latest one,
Number of attacks, viruses, trojans, etc in the past three years = 0
edit: but then I am the kind of person that feels that a router firewall coupled with a software firewall mainly to monitor outgoing attempts is just barely starting.

SP2 FINALLYYYYYYYYY came out.
I'll let you guys do the *real* beta-testing on it, though.

They updated the update site. thats good. And im not installing Sp2 yet
