Are you handy around the house?

I'm pretty handy around the house. Little jobs like fixing doors and installing light fixtures or changing a switch with a dimmer I do. Saves us lot of money from hireing an electricien for a silly job. All the doors in this house don't work properly though, and since I'm the one that installed my own when we redid upstairs (man, that must of been like 10 years ago) it works fine, but the others I never bothered to fix. :D Well the washroom door used to rub against the carpet and be hard to close so I fixed 'er up with my dremel...

But most of the handy man type stuff I do is electrical. If a reletive needs a new light fixture installed or whatever I'm usually the one that does it.

Thought it would be interesting to share our handyness, or unhandyness.

My parants are not too handy. Well my mom is not too bad, but my dad freaks out at the sight of a set of screws apon opening a new "assembly required" item.

I'm not that handy, when something breaks we just forget it and wait until someone gets sick at looking at it and then they fix it.

lol that's how my parants are with lot of things. :D I'm usually the first one that get's tired of the way it is and I start fixing it.

My mom is actually more handy then my dad. My dad is horrified at the sight of a screw driver.

Everytime I'm done electrical work, the most scarry part is turning on the breaker after. :D

Sometimes I can skip that part... but that's not really good since it means that I skipped turning it off in first place. :o

Oops! I voted in this a few days ago, and I must have forgotten to reply!

Unfortunately, I don’t remember what I voted for. I am not at all handy in that sense though. I will learn eventually, or I will hire someone. :D It would be my way of helping the œconomy. :P (Err… Or harming it? I’m not an œconomist. :P )

So you will hire an electricien for 50 bucks an hour instead of taking 10 minutes to do it yourself? Well if you save your life in the process then it's worth it I suppose. :D I'm probably going to end up being like my grandpa. he's crazy. He installed a plug once without even shutting off the breaker. LOL. It's possible, you just have to be careful, but I still feel better to just close the dang breaker.

Maybe… After studying the problem, I may do it myself if I feel confident enough. If not, I’ll hire someone if I have the money. Ideally, I’ll have a friend who can do it for free. :D

I’m not a spelling Nazi (I think!), but I love how you mix French with English like that. :P

I tend to fix things, if I don't know how to do it, I learn. I rather enjoy learning new things this way.

I can fix up a computer rather nicely, but I can't hit a nail in a wall even if you give me a sledgehammer
