I applied a while back to work for the school (cleaning and stuff) but I never heard back from them to know when the interview will be so I figured it was hopeless. But today I got a phone call and I start on monday. I guess with my resume I don't really need a job, well I'm way overqualified for the job but it's just a summer job.

Yep. Every morning when I'll have to get up at 6:00. I hope I get fridays off though, it was that way when I worked there 2 years back. Long daily hours, but a day off at the end. Since it's extremely hard to go to bed so early and get up so early. But money is good. (not like I'll be able to spend it though. )

No my mom keeps track of everything and freaks out if I spend money.

I looked into that but there's no way to do the ebay thing expect for with a real credit card. It sucks how everything needs credit cards these days. I can always put my mom's.

You should get a credit card and use it so you can start building up a good credit record. Having a good record will help you get an apartment or house or various other loans and investments you may want to make in the future.

You can't have a credit card unless you have a full time job though, that's the thing. And this job is only for the summer. So basically I can only get one once I'm done college and get a real job. I wish I could get one now since building credit was also my plan since I know I would pay it off in time etc... I would only use it if I have the money.

I think credit cards are a waste. I've never had one, nor do I plan to. I recently purchased a house for $216,000 and no trouble getting financing for it or any other type of loans or financing I've needed. Credit cards are a gimic to offer people the option of spending more money than you actually have so they can conveniently tack on an insane interest rate and actually cost you more money for giving them your business. Not to mention they've caused countless people their livelyhoods because of an inability to manage their money.

Yeah credit cards can be dangeraus. But I'd only use it for when I don't have a choice. For example to sell on ebay I need to put a credit card number even though they don't charge it. They just want it in case I do fraud or something, and to have identification. Stupid if you ask me, they should just ask for the social insurance number or something, at least everyone has one of those.

Isn't it more dangerous to hand out the SS number than CC #? You can always get the CC # changed, but the SS number will cause more damage in the end (heck, if someone has your SS number, they can work their way into your credit accounts anyway, lol)

Yeah, but at least it's accessable. Anyone has one, while a credit card, no one under 18 without a full time job can have one. What they should do though is a credit/debit card. It would be like a credit card, but you'd have to put money on it, instead of using money that's not yours. At least it would make online stuff possible.

That's what I have, it's connected to my checking, but is accepted everywhere Visa is accepted.

Your bank? Are you limited to only one bank in Canada, you all aren't that socialist are you? Search for banks, lots offer (at least here) free checking or some good deal, you're more or less a grown up, you can shop for banks if you want. (unless it really is that whole socialist thing... )
