Why Can’t Congress Stop Spending?

Everybody complains about pork, but members of Congress keep spending because voters do not throw them out of office for doing so.  The rotten system in Congress will change only when the American people change their beliefs about the proper role of government in our society.  Too many members of Congress believe they can solve all economic problems, cure all social ills, and bring about worldwide peace and prosperity simply by creating new federal programs.  We must reject unlimited government and reassert the constitutional rule of law if we hope to halt the spending orgy.

because congress is going to keep on spending until the united states is so far in debt that iraq will have more money than us; therefore leading us to be taken over by foreign countries that don't want't to follow the general principal of "helping a brother out", then we all die.

Sounds like a plan! Oh ... um....I mean, that's bad!

Actually I'd like to see the day where the US dollar goes lower then the Canadian dollar. Stuff is too expensive here, and it's because it all comes from the states so it's worth double. For example some people can get the radeon 9800 in the states for like under 100 bucks, well here it's 600 and over.

But I'd want google to pay me in CND if that happened, since right now I get paid in USD so when I cash the check I have like a ton of money in my account. :D

LOL no. It's 600 bucks and up, wholesale. In a store I'd assume about a grand. Everything is like 5 to 10 times the price. Like I heard one can buy a router for like 20 bucks in the states.. well here you're looking at at least 150 for a cheap linksys 4 port. for anything bigger you need specialty orders or a decent wholesale supplier, and even wholesale is not really that much cheaper. But it depends on what items. Stuff like case fans are cheaper. I can get them for 5 bucks, while in stores here they are about 30. To build a half decent computer it costs at least 1,300.

considering the coversion rate red, something in america costing $100 should not be $600 after the conversion, it should be $130 because american money is worth $1.30 to your $1.00CD.

It's not just the conversion rate though. It's just more expensive. I think it's border taxes that cause it, not sure. And then on top of it you do have the conversion rate which makes it even more expensive, but that's not really the biggest factor, it's whatever else that makes it tripple the price which I assume is border taxes or something.

I should find out how it works to order directly from manufacturers, probably cheaper that way. But you probably need a special vending permit. I have an ontario vending permit so I can order from suppliers in ontario, but it's still expensive compared to what people in the states pay, and that's retail.

You should check into it, because if your spending $600 CD for a graphics card when it should be $130, thats no good for you.

America has a nice huge tech industry that Canada doesn't, we reap the benefits here (and so do the Japanese, same there) but the rest of the world does pay more on average, sometimes lots more. I don't know about 6X the price, but I do know that I just talked to some people in Britian who were raving about the cheap prices of digital cameras here 'in the states'.

Yeah the tech stuff is the worse. I head you can buy 10 80mm fans for 5 bucks in the states, well guess what, here it's 30 bucks. (but I can get it for 5 bucks off my supplier, and 10 bucks for 120mm). All mobos are 100 to 600 bucks, cpus 200 and up (ex: the 64bit opteron is over 600 wholesale).

Softwood lumber and industrial type things, then we probably have better prices here I would assume. :D (but I may be wrong...)

But yeah we're going off topic. :D

Yeah but the're probably based in the US. Sort of like google, they are Canadian but yet based in US. Not really sure who makes those decisions lol...

Unless my suppliers are ripping me off, but I doubt it, since they are a reputable company. They're actually based in london too, so prices are cheaper in the south.

Is it? Ok had no clue where it was. Really not sure why it's so expensive then.

CND http://www.ati.com/buy/pricespccdn.html
USD http://www.ati.com/buy/pricespcusa.html

Odd how the US pricing is expensive too though (same price, just different currency) Since if I go to a site like newegg I can find the same cards for like under 100. Why is that?

I think you're looking at the 'gimped' version of the cards at newegg and the expensive ones at ATI's site(s) are the top of the line. Besides, I imagine that's MLP their showing, tons of places offer it lower than that.
