Hopefully within at least 25 years we should be off fossil fuels, our cars running off new battery technologies or flywheels. I would also hope cars would eventually become automated - speak your destination, and the car plots a course and drives you there. That would drastically reduce car accidents, traffic violations, etc, as it wouldn't matter as much if you were talking on the phone or falling asleep, etc.

I would also say that within 50s we would have moved to the whole rail-gun approach to launching spacecraft from earth. But once beyond the earth pull, I really don't know what kind of propulsion system would be used.

I think it will be water powered cars and something has to be done about the traffic. Planes will all be nucleur fussion powered and really fast.

I think cars will stay how they are but just progress in looks and technology (dvd changer, TVs, gps and other such gadgets) and maybe and hopefully run off something else then gas. I think hydrogen/water has a potential and they already have one in the market but it's kind of pricy...

I actually have this plan for a new type of power generating device, which could possibly (don't think so but maybe...) be incorporated into cars. I just have to figure out where I get the supplies and tools to build it.

I don't think the device would work in cars though because it depends on 100% vertical gravity to work and cars produce G force when moving which would make this not 100$ virtical. It can be less then 100% vertical, but the rest of the gravity or G force must be equally disperssed across the device. But I won't know for sure until I build it, and if I build it. One of the main required supplies is magnets (of specific size and strenght) and I can't find any place to buy those. I can make my own but they would not be powerful enough.

Sure, but those are a bit more complicated, but don't those already exist? In jets? So all that would be needed is to impliment the same design but smaller. But the proplem would be that it would burn your legs so that would be the main thing to figure out. It could maybe have a metal tail to it so it would act as a heat sink. And because of how a jet engine works not sure if it could be made smaller and still be powerful enough.

I'll stick with gravitational magnetic ball bearing devices, not as dangeraus (unless it works better then what I think...)

Yeah, I think with the privatization of the space industry, this will come to be. Ion engines will probably also rise in popularity for space travel.

What if you could puncture space-time, and go to a place where time has completely stopped, in relation to the outside world? then you could go into hypersleep for thousands of years, travel to the exact spot where you want to go, come out, and no time has passed in the outside world! great for short notice trips.

They have somthing like that with sattelite tv coming out. That idea to make the 100% vertical thing could work if you... well does it involve hovering over magnets.

you could use magnets to accellerate plasma to incredible speeds, then shoot it out of your ship, then retrive it using the same magnetic field, only opposite polarity. the ship would then re-heat, and re-fire the plasma, needing only energy to heat the plasma again, and electricity to use the electromagnets powering it! cold fusion reactors would work fine! so, anyone got a cold fusion reactor I can use? this time, I'll make sure not to cause a meltdown. last time, I ended up blowing up some city in japan.
