USB over Cat5 wall plate device
July 20, 2007 -- Cables To Go has introduced its patent-pending USB SuperBooster Wall Plate. The product allows USB signals to be run over standard Cat5/Cat5E/Cat6 patch cords, enabling USB devices to function with host computers up to 150 ft. away, a distance dramatically exceeding the distance capabilities of other USB wall plate solutions that only function up to 15 ft., according to the company.
The company contends that the SuperBooster makes placing USB projectors, interactive whiteboards, cameras, printers, web cams and other USB devices in separate rooms or closets possible. This enables expensive equipment pieces to remain in secure locations and provides the ability to have peripheral access in remote locations.
