Just bought a ps3 today and man does it kick ass lol
got armored core 4 and enchanted arms for now ^^

just thought i would say hi from the ps3 well i was setting iceteks as a bookmark lol

oh and the ps3 has that folding@home stuff already on it ??
should i fold?

lol it actually comes with folding@home? thats awesome, setup team Iceteks on it. If it was an xbox I'd be scared it overheats and puts the whole neighborhood on fire, but you should be ok with a ps3.

Heating up may be an issue tho as the system does get really hot. Im gonna try and buy a fan for it this friday if i can >< Hot as in almost a requirement but with the temps in town right now im not surpised it can blow out the kinda heat it does.

Now for some of the goods on it

Well as for graphics i dont really think i need to say anything about them
Put it this way. I downloaded Gran Tourismo HD Concept and the replay videos almost look 100% true to life real as far as the track and cars go. From what ive seen the games out for it so far are not even close to tapping into the systems real potential. GT5 and Final Fantasy 13 should be amazing on this system as those 2 series have always shown what PS can do in this area.

Options Theres alot of em but i will post just a few i found very interesting lol
Theres an option in system that i seen and had to know more about lol "Other OS"
So umm ya aparently fedora core 5 and yellow dog are a real possibility this time around and shouldnt void the warranty

Does not seem like it has much use yet tho But could have some real possiblilitys in the future once some really smart guys start pimping stuff out online ^^

The Online store is fairly neat also as there is game demos and stuff there that are free which is great because at 70+ cash a game its nice to know what im getting before i run out and buy it
Of course not everything is free but hey its expected lol
Full version games and upgrades to current games etc are up for grabs

Web browser abilitys seem fairly limited to just surfing
Maybe im just missing somthing but as far as i can tell bookmarks and images are the only 2 things you can save well web browsing just a guess but it should be able to save videos and music as the system can play em so im gonna have to check that out more.
As for surfing itself the thing seems to display most pages correctly like youtube iceteks and whatnot but there seems to be a few odds an ends it cant handle
like uhh the shout box does not work correctly in the ps3 browser

But ya ive tryed the Wii and 360 and well the Wii is fun with a few people playing all at once its not really suited to single player. Its more of a party systems after everyones had a few lol There will be one here eventually but the way i play i really need a sit n play console
360 well nothing good to say lol Tryed it and the damn thing froze on me every 10 mins on one game i tryed that was kinda like GTA but i forget the name of it.

I will try and setup the folding for tomorrow night tho ^^ and will leave ya with an GT HD image

F@H is set up but its gonna be a while before it sends in a unit tho
Its unable to run in the background so basicly if F@H is running its the ONLY thing running so screensaver is all i can do with it.
Cant even lissen to MP3's well F@H is running let alone play games and with this heat i dont wanna leave it running 24/7

I will try to start it instead of using pause when i stop playing to eat,run out or whatever. But 7 hours pause time will take awhile

Hmm now that I think of it, I remember hearing of that. It's weird they made it so it can't run in the background. Just needs to be low priority so it would not affect game performance.

All hope may not be lost yet tho because the system is basicly a computer so if enuff people want to run it in the background then thay may be able to make an update for it.

I dont understand why thay would do it that way ethere cuz i can download videos and whatnot from the ps store in the background well playing games or doing anything really so i really dont see why it cant run in the background

Time to use some google-fu to see if i can find anything on it

I may be able to surf the net well folding so if i move most if not all of my pc web browsing activitys to the ps3 then i may get a few units in ^^ im on PC right now btw lol
May not get near as much as i would with it just running in the background but its better then just pause

Just be sure that thing has decent cooling, not sure if those consoles are meant to be left on for super long. Then again, we're not talking Xbox here. Those things provide enough BTUs of heat to outperform a 240 volt space heater.

For heat im not too worryed about it on a nice day like today but on a hot day i dont like it running for long.

I trust the ps3 should handle the same in the heat department as my ps2 cuz i have had my hand near it on a fair day and it wasnt any hotter then my ps2 would get. But again on a really hot day both systems can blow out some massave heat after a short 20 mins tho its expected. Hot air in,Even hotter air out right
