An interesting article on MS and the future of XP.

After reading it I really wish I could switch to some other OS for playing games!

What sucks is all the new games will be made for vista only, so if you game alot you're kind of screwed. Vista has got to be the most anoying OS. It's always bugging you for something, and everything is far out of reach. They did that with XP but you could switch to classic view, now they did it even worse with vista, and not sure if you can switch to classic view or not. A friend got it on his new 4k computer he built and gets nothing but blue screens and driver issues.
I only upgraded to xp last summer, so vista is far from my PC.

Likewise, I didn't upgrade to Win XP until SP2 had been out for a good 3 months, I was fine chilling with 2000. And I truly don't see Vista being on my PC any time soon.
It's really funny to me to watch how people scramble over PCs with Vista. OMG I want this one because it has the new Microsoft Vista, haha.

I just bought a new comp last year with XP ( my first XP machine ) Now it looks like I'll have to start a linux project just for gaming platforms.

Yeah I get a laugh out of that too. Going to vista now is the WORSE thing to do. at least, at least wait for SP1. But I prefer 70% of my 2GB of ram to be used by programs that I'm runing, then 70% of it being used just by the OS.... specially considering I have 1GB not 2GB. My friend has 2GB and it sits at 70% usage with just vista and WoW running.
Only reason I even upgraded to XP was to go to a lan party, as a game did not run in win2k.

I read somewhere that just surfing the net under vista uses ~900mb. Thats ridiculous!

LOL that's a jarr. I wanted to code a program use that much memory. Was a linked list database, very basic. Had to load in a good 1,000,000 items to use up that much ram. I don't know how MS pulls that off without actually loading mass data into the program.
