media skinning

you like to make media player skins.?
you are tired of the winamp classic style of skinning, but not completely?
you can do modern winamp skins but your tired of winamp skins.?
you want to make more skins with different ideas.
how about going to the mediamonkey.com site and to their devlopers area
find the skinning engine to use for their version 3 player.
download that find a free download of one of their mm3 skins to see what is
already in the skin and how to use it.
and get to work making new skins for media monkey 3. we need good skinners
that know how to make invisible backgrounds on the skins and other things like touch screen skins.
media monkey 3 is far beyound anything you seen before with it.
as before in the version 2 skin it was just baisc winamp 2 classic with a skin around
the explorer shell. and it was a fixed size.
the mm 3 skins are un fixed and there are 3 players to skin for it. the main player you see when it starts. the floating player which is what you get to use if you want to minimize the explorer shell. and if you want to hide it all and use a smaller player then there is the micro player that fits on the task bar. it is really small so not much can be done on it.
but you need to versions of the micro player one for vertical and one for hortizontal task bars.
to help you out when you get the player skinner downloaded.
and the skin for mm3
you then just change the extension of the skin file from the msz to zip.
simiple just like winamp right?
now unzip that file in to a folder you just made to keep all seperate.
you look at that file if you got the default skin then you will see that default.mskn
and a royalblue.msz file. you will need to leave the defualt one alone.
and then you need to change the royalblue.msz to another zip file.
and unzip it. you should see a folder now with its name on. in that folder is
all the files used on the royal blue skin.
if you did not download the defalut skin then you might just have the skins msz file
when you first unzip the file you downloaded.
how ever you got it you need to unzip that skin file to get to that folder. or to the files for the skin.
when you see the files for the skin you will see more mskn files. those are the different player's skins for the main over all skin you need to
open the mskn files one at a time with the skinning engine. then on the skinning engine you look
for the menu bar for " File " " Edit" click on them to find the words Export Images.
then make sure you have a seperate folder for each mskn files images and export the images and close out of the skinning engine.
now look at the images you just exported there are several.
that are just like the image maps of the winamp classic skins. just change the images on them to what you want.
when done open the same mskn file again and this time replace the images in it with your new ones. save and close out you got a new skin that is just the same size as the one you downloaded. now do that for all the other mskn files you got in that skin and you got a complete new main mm 3 skin.
if you want to mess around and make different styles then you need to adjsut
the images you added in the mskn files and make sure the areas for the images to change are correct.
also there is no error handling in the skinning of mm3 so make sure your images and sizes for the buttons all match in the code. one pixel off in image size can kill the skin.
but if your a pro at skinning winamp mod skins or classic skins you will pick this up almost in 15 minutes just an advances skinner like me only took 2 to 3 hours.
to get it down but i picked it up in about 30 minutes.
the mm 3 is in alpha testing and the skinning engine keeps getting better with each new version so there are only more good things to come.
but we need more skinners there. there is a devolopers wiki in the works so theres lots to use. by far i think this is getting miles in front of winamps forum.
we don't need more clone skins but we wont turn them away just would like more design styles to pick from like maybe a player that looks like a spider monkey?
or maybe one that looks like a hammer head shark,
theres not limit set on design at media monkey for skins. only what can be thought of and used in the skinning engine.
you want to help out and get in a more freindly area with no flaming of you for your ideas. sure some one might say it is stuipd but that is as bad as it gets. as of now anyway? and i don't think the moderators will let it get any worse.
what i told you should get you started with the skinning if you already can skin some what?
enjoy.
yes it is a plea for help on skinning so how much more do you want.??
Please make some new idea skins for media monkey?
oh yes you bring the
