Behind the scenes I've been working a lot on a Ultima Online Server which you'll hear more about once I write an article on UO and the server has grown the need for a dedicated server, which means I've ordered one and in the process of setting everything up. UO is the priority at the moment but to save costs I will also move Iceteks.* domains and anythingforums.com.
So as I do this there may be possible downtime. Though chances are I will simply replace the site with a page explaining that DNS propagation is in progress.

Keep in mind any attachments or avatars uploaded at this point will not be saved. I am currently transferring the site over to the new server. It may be a few days before I get the rest configured though, such as email. The SQL transfer will be done right as I do the domain switchover to prevent data rollback as much as I can.

I never really gave good background info on all of this so here goes.I wanted to go dedicated so I can host a Ultima Online server (only runs in Windows) as my DSL line gets saturated during peak times. If I was going to pay for a dedicated server I wanted it to be Linux so I can move my sites to it. (Linux > Windows for hosting) then I found out my VMware idea did not work as well on this dedicated server then it does at my house. (unsure why) as the shard was too laggy. So I decided to leave it behind and start working on transferring my sites and configuring the server on the linux side.
Then it came to me, this is WAY more work then I'm ready for, to completely manage my own host. Email is rather complex to get working with multiple domains, got to consider backups, disaster recovery, security, etc etc etc....
Put it this way a 20/mo webhost is WORTH the money. I'm keeping it. So what does this mean? Considering I paid the setup fee and monthly fee for this server I can't just scrap the idea. So I'm getting the data center to reload and put windows which will cost a bit more, but the shard will basically have it's completely dedicated server and I really can't see why there would be a lag issue now. At first this server may be a waste but I really want to push for the shard to grow and I think there is the potential.
I will post more info about Ultima Online here and write an article on it for people who have never played. It's a fun game and you can do a lot, and make lot of friends and unlike WoW it will not consume your soul.

UO is less addictive than wow, but the gameplay is just as enjoyable. Least you can pull yourself from the game for a couple of hours.
