I am looking at getting the Nintendo DS but I really haven't made up my mind. Should I go for the DS or the PSP. I mean the DS is owning in the market place and is selling in North America 2 : 1 ratio and in Japan it's just massacring the PSP. The stats are from this article http://psp.ign.com/articles/750/750197p1.html . I mean I want to be able to play FF games and some first person shooters. Not to mention some random fun and cool games. Just wondering what you guys think.

I'm actually planning on getting me a DS eventually. With the exception of maybe Lumines, I don't see anything really compelling on the PSP. And if you want to play Final Fantasy (I'm assuming what you mean by FF) there really isn't any question. FF 1&2, along with 4 and 5 are on the GBA (The DS is backwards compatible) with FF3 recently being released for the DS.

Don't get me wrong, the PSP looks sweet, but I'd only use it as an overpriced portable video player. And I'm not talking that UMD video crap either if that's what your thinking.

Screw 'em both and get a Wii. I assure you it's more fun. BUUTTT, if you absolutely want a handheld, get which ever one is more in your price range. Remember, if there's more games for the DS you want, you can afford them easier with the money you save buying it.

accualy there is one other aspect for handhelds you should be looking into

DS is compatable with wii and psp is compatable with ps3

i think most of us gamers will be getting a next gen console eventually so you may want to add that into how you choose  im not sure what the ds and wii can do together so you may want to google that up

also check out with other functions thay have like psp can also play vids/music etc
donno about ds so ya google that up lol

but ya if you dont care then go for the cheap one as you will get more games
if you know what next gen console you want for sure then choosing like that would give your handheld more use after you grow tired of it ... it does happen lol
In an interview that was conducted with Japanese newspaper Nikkei Business Publications, Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwata focused mainly on the Wii, however he also confirmed that the Wii will be able to interact with the DS in the form of downloadable demos through the WiiConnect 24 service.

just found that about the ds and wii

for psp/ps3 theres not to much on it right now
PLAYSTATION and PSP play nice together. Easily exchange media like photos, videos and music from your PLAYSTATION 3 system to your PSP system. And get ready to witness an explosion in creativity as developers take on the challenge of integrating the PSP system into PLAYSTATION 3 games.

well go luck picking your gaming system  google is good for this stuff

If you're getting a PS3 eventually, you can download PS1 games for your PSP, but you need the PS3 online crap to do it((GOD I hate how Sony is :censored: with our heads >.<)).

Also, you can control the PS3 using the PSP. That sounds nifty for media control.

glad ya got somthing you like ^^

hey pyro what file type are the ps1 games in for the psp?

i dont know if this helps but i do know a gaming site that has ALL ps1 games up for download via torrent ... k well not all as theres like 9000+ ps1 games worldwide but thay got all NTSC (can/usa version) so a lil over 1650 ps1 games on site

if the psp can read them in there current format then you might not have to wait for ps3 to use psx games on your psp

edit: mm never mind lol but soon yes very soon you will be able to run em free of charge without ps3 that means ff 1 to 9 only missing 3 lol oh and with 1692+ titles at your disposal you will never be bored again
Yoshihiro has released the first public release of his PSX-P Playstation One emulator for the PSP. This first public release is a good demonstration of what could be in time an excellent Playstation Emulator for the PSP, once a dynarec is built in then Sony will have reason to worry or worry us .

I'd say it all suits your gameplay style. The DS is an interesting console, that's for sure. It has the touch screen on the bottom which adds an interesting spin on certain games. For example, the DS game "warioware touched" uses the stylus and sometimes voice to play minigames. You drag stuff, draw stuff to reach the goals of the minigames. This game play style is unique to the DS console and some love it, others do not. I also had the benefit of playing Kirby Squeek Squad which I found to be a very nice addition to the kirby games. You can use the touch screen to mix kirby's abilities together to create a new random one or to merge two together (Fire + sword = fire sword).

Although I have never tried a PSP before, I have heard some nice things about it. However if you are thinking of getting a DS system, here's some information on it:

-Keep in mind that nintendo have their own range of game characters. So if you are a mario, kirby, yoshi, mario kart, metroid, etc fan....you can get new games featuring these characters for the DS.

-Touch screen adds a new dimension of gaming. Some games utilize both screens as inventory and gameplay or even allow you to customize what you see on the top and bottom of the screen (can be handy, more information is available to you at one time). Also, the touch screen on the bottom is fun because some games require you to drag or draw.

-If you like the final fantasy series, there's Final Fantasy 3 available to play on the DS. It's a remake of the original Final Fantasy 3 for the NES console (If memory serves me right, it was only available in Japan but some people might have played it from a downloadable rom). It has decent graphics and still keeps the kick ass gameplay and storyline

Those are just a few points to ponder. I personally love playing my DS system. If you do get a DS, I recommend getting the DS lite console. It's an upgraded version of the original release. It has better lighting, a sleeker design and extended battery life. They've been out for a while now so the price has likely gone down to a reasonable amount.

My girlfriend's mom invited us to play cards at t3h grandmother's house New Year's Eve....... We owned them hardcore. I started out with 0 dollars and ended up with 14, based off of practically 25 cent bets per round. Not sure how to describe the game we played, but we had fun and I ended up with almost half the money. I told them I'd be glad to come play again any day.
