Now I'm getting a scripting error whenever I try to run 2 different little programs I got from tech sites.

One of them worked great until I ran Autopatcher which installed all the 'fixes' after I had to do my daily reinstall of XP.

This program monitored the pagefile,

The second program was a shutdown script.

The error I'm getting is :

Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01ce' The remote server machine does not exist or is unavailable

UMMM_HELLO?? I'm not ON a network!

Any ideas?? I've searched Google & most of it doesn't apply or is for networked PCs.

the program is made to look for a server on the dev's system ?

or the xp is closing too fast and the server it is looking for is closed before it looks for it?

 :banghead:

One of them--the shutdown program--is a vb script

The other one-which shows pagefile size & usage-is an .exe

The exe one worked great--until I added a bunch of 'hot fixes'

Google also kept talking about a scripting error-which I doubt--as the .exe one won't work either.

I have a feeling I have a 'service' turned off that I need, but I can't figure it out.

I wish Microsoft would wake up & when there's a system error it tells you what it is.

I especially love it when you submit the error to Microsoft & they say there's no information available.

What?-Does XP create error numbers out of thin air?? :banghead:
