No. He was their demolitions man and he had just placed a charge to make a point of entry. I know it looks like he didn't get out of the way in time, but he did. I saw a documentary once the original team talked about how they did it. A little after the explosion, as the smoke clears, you can see him and three other guys make their way in. In the meantime, other SAS commandos made their way in through other points of entry.
