Got Win NT 4.0 with 90 mg memory or so it says on startup. I pulled out one stick of memory to see but still can't tell what it is. Won't let me in, it needs a password.

odd, yeah a reformat is probably the best bet. Put win98 on it or something.

I don't think 90 mgs of memory would run anything.

yeah 98 would run, nothing else though. 98 needs 16mb of ram and about 300 megs of hard disk space. I managed to get it on a 486 so it should run on that thing. funny how a low end machine can look like something that can take over the world.

Yep, I figured the thing would have decent memory at least.
How will I format if I can't get in it?

when do you get the password, like before it hits the OS?

Yes, just tells you what the OS is and then the Fiery logo screen is there with the login window. Use ctrl+alt+del to enter password.
Trying that didn't even get me to login.

If you reformat using a boot disk you should be able to wipe all that.
Where did you get this anyway? Maybe there's something that would be of interest before you do that format.

My son works for a property management firm, when a business moves out and leaves anything behind it is kept in storage for a time and then disposed of. Employees can take what they want. My son thought I could use it.

Shouldn't be anything on it since it was used for printer control. It did look impressive but there's not much to it.

Yeah it looks good from the outside but not from the inside.
If it was for printers I doubt there's much on it. probably drivers at most.

Yeah that's like almost as bad as my parant's old computer.... well same specs, but at least that one looks half decent.
What's sad though is that the chip that controls the front panel is probably more powerful then the processor.

Hadn't thought about that, but you're probably right.
Need to harness that power and send it to the cpu.
BTW, Ycontrol will be happy we're keeping his talk talk talk going.

So lets do this. I'm up for a truth or a dare. Whoever wants to lay either one on me can, and you can just do it in here in my talk talk talk. That way it's outta the way of the rest of your guys' forum topics and all that, just in case it doesn't work out. Ok....so somebody hit me with it. Truth or dare, I'll take either one.

Go nuts, you can start it in the krazy igloo section. It's ok to start more then one topic here you know.
Actually we don't even have a "no spam" policy... lol. It's never been a problem.
