isin't it hard to find a hub that lets you use DC++ though? Every time I use DC like 90% of the shares have NO DC++ as a rule and it won't let you connect. that and the 2TB share minimums some put. <_< Like seriously.

Haha, you guys are doing it wrong. It took me a while to set it up. But now that i have, it's awesome. My PC got formatted so it's set me back quite alot as you can probably imagine . I can give you a good hublist if you like Red that allows DC++ :).

MrSmith the link to download is
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/dcplusp...74.exe?download

Find the nearest area to where you live and click to download.

Actually I'm setting up a p2p VM right now, figured I'll increase my security and run all p2p apps in a VM that is nated so if I hit a virus, it won't damage my main machine, and won't really have nowhere to spread. So I'll definatly try that out.

I've never got a virus off DC++. Unless you download .exe files, then you're just a moron.

Most of my downloads are exe's since they're programs, so there's more risks involved. But don't expect a 30KB iconless file called "autocad-installer.exe" to install a full blown application. So even without depending on the AV (which is a must when using p2p software) it's easy to tell what's a virus and what's not.

Yeah but for new people to downloading programs, it's easy to forget. There should be anti-virus software implimented specifically into the program, but i suppose we should complain, we are, after all, getting free downloads .

:lol:Yeah, and rather then paying thousands, we simply pay the fact of taking risks. So technically we're still paying something. :P

Bah, there isn't much risk in the stuff i download. It's mainly films/music. I know you can put viruses in those because they are executable, but my PC has good anti-virus. My anti-virus is free as well .

Actually you can't really get viruses from media, unless the media player has some kind of buffer overflow issue and a virus is embeded in a file and triggers the flaw. Not something you see often though. I can only recall 1 such virus and it was not that big.

Yeah, usually the file size is only like 50kb and below. Easy to spot really. But sometimes you forget.

I started off as a trojan script kiddie but that was not enough, I had to write my own stuff, then I found out it's illegal and sort of stopped from there and only do it on an ocasional basis, like trashing spamming sites with tons of HTTP POST requests.  I need to get into the buffer overflow exploit stuff.  you NEED to know that inside out to hack into any MS server.
Then you need to learn C and a bit of Assembly.

Yeah assembly is nice for the low level stuff. Lot of buffer overflows can be exploited only with telnet though. Heck, a crappy app like IIS can be exploited directly from the browser to get command line results in nice easy to read format right in your browser. almost like they meant to do it that way.
