Yeah, but I have to be impressed that it's still here, and still getting occasional action. The last two forums that I was heavily invested in both went completely offline and all my hundreds of posts disappeared.

I've always been one to keep a site going regardless of traffic. I'm paying for hosting either way, since I have multiple sites.
I did consider selling it and it even went on Ebay, but I was not willing to sell it unless someone was ready to pay up much more then it's worth. Someone did offer me 1k for it, but 1k is not what will get me out of my house debt, so it's not worth loosing a site over.
One of these days I do plan to totally revive this place.

1K? WTF? For what? What in the form of profit making would the buyer get?

I got a cat tonight. Our cat ran away or got hit by a car or eaten by a fox or something a few months ago...so we got another one.
Wouldn't it be great if you could just get another family member when they were eaten by a fox or hit by a car. Just go down to the pound or find a friend who's family member just had a litter of family members and pick the one you want and take em home.
That cat the went missing...came back to the house about 2 months ago. He was "missing" for 11 months. As i said in the meantime we got another cat around Christmas. So the old cat just kinda comes around once a week for some food and then leaves again.

Someone with lot of spare time could probably turn any forum site into a cash cow. In fact at once point Iceteks was, but I just lack the time.

Very hard to tell. Some people make thousands per month. All depends on how big the site is, how many page views, how many clicks, etc...
At one point I was pulling in about 100 bucks per month, and that's USD, and then it was worth almost double. So it was more like 200.

I'm a server tech at the hospital now. I work for another company but since this is a big contract I just stay on site all the time.
Recently bought a house and moved in this week. That's why I have hardly been posting. No internet at home yet... the service is setup but not the cabling. Hopefully my cabling comes in soon. Had to order from the states as it's too expensive here for cat6.

I joined Facebook within the past year, and I find it more personal than a forum simply because I actually know my Facebook friends in real life as well as in cyberspace. At least most of them. I do have about 5 people that I met on forums who I have subsequently added on Facebook wothout ever knowing them apart from the forums.

Have you been at many other forums in the past three years?

on Facebook: I liked facebook when it WAS mostley the friends I actually knew. unfortunately things got a little out of hand and people won't stop with the App stuff. I don't want to play Mafia wars... I'd rather watch the history channel
on forums: Actually, yes I have been a member of about 4 forums since I last posted here. the 2 main ones being Dead Man's Tales and Keep to the Code
though I've also been known to post on the Lostpedia and Prop Replica Forum from time to time. There was always something different about this place though... no topic too broad and no borad to topical...

I spend most of my computer time on forums.

Red what do you use to heat your house? Also, how is it? Does it heat well? I have one room in my house that is all windows (looks out over the river) and the area underneath it is not heated...so the floor is cold and because of all the windows it looses heat. Aside from that my house heats ok. I would like to heat the room underneath eventually though (it's just like a smoke spot for friends currently, and winter wood). I never thought that heating would become such a big issue...oh the joys of growing up.
I currently heat mainly with a wood furnace, but I also have an oil furnace I use for back up.

I heat with a gas furnace, and it heats ok, though I find the lower part of the house gets cold fast since the heat seams to rise, it's a split level. I think the duct for the lower part of the house is undersized, so it's not pushing enough air, should be pushing more air on the lower part then the upper part, but it seems the ducts are of equal size.
I've been toying with the idea of underfloor radiant heating for the kitchen area. I find the tile floor gets really cold. I should have got heating pads installed before the tiles were put in but now is kinda late for that.
I normally keep the heat at like 15, I only crank it to 20 when I'm about to eat or plan to be in the lower part of the house. I have a small electric heater in my office so if I'm only spending time there I use that instead to save on energy.

Hmm, I have been thinking of a small electric heater for my area with lots of windows. How do you find the little heater on the power bill?

Not too bad, the one I have is only 550 watt. It's one of those oil filled heaters. Only thing it takes a while to heat up. If the area you want to heat is big I would get a fan/coil/ceramic type heater as you get a more intense and instantanious heat.
I have a heater under my garage to keep the foundation above zero so it does not crack, and that heater is something like 2800w. Now THAT put a huge dent on my bill when I set it too high for a month. I'm on equal billing but it shows how much I would have paid. It was 150 bucks for one month, then I turned it down, and next bill was 50 bucks.
The small heater can hardly heat the small room unless I put it on at max though, so I just put it under my desk so I can feel the heat directly that way I don't have to put it on full blast. I usually put it on the medium setting so it's not running all the time. The nice thing about the oil filled is when it's not on it's still generating radiant heat. They're also safer then the coil based heaters.
