I didn't say anything about removing houses in Luna .. I just got one there =P
I meant just burn it to the ground ... the bank/shoppes area. lol

What I meant was that Luna as the central hub is blah ... everyone used to post out in certain towns and whatnot. I know with low population it works nice for Luna, but something that the players could contribute to creating a new town would be awesome. Say, donations of gold would enable a banker to appear, but we'd need the stones, wood and other supplies to build the bank. Donating ingots, ore would get a smith to appear. That type of thing. Isn't there a way to change the default starting location (regardless if they pick Britain, Minoc, etc. at character creation) and send them there? I dunno, just shooting stuff out there.

I would LOVE to bring back brit as being the main town. I still remember my first day on UO. I played on a shard called New Jersey and I landed near the central bridge in brit, and was walking towards the bank (Friends were there waiting for me to create my char) using arrow keys (lol) and we hanged out there for a while. I remember brit having so many people. Well at least it seemed to have lot of people, since it took me a while to realize that half of them were NPCs. LMAO. Good days...

Shit I remember I couldn't go to Brit because it lagged me sooo much on Chesapeake. It was 11 years ago, I played on a Pentium 386 with a 28.8 (which it NEVER was) dial up in Puerto Rico (when the infrastructure was JUST beginning to develop, IF THAT). I'd hang out in Minoc because usually only us miners were there, and some of the other 'locals'. I wouldn't DARE even run to Vesper because it'd take about 30-45 minutes and the area between the towns was known PK grounds.

Oh man ... just remembering it ... *SIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHHHHHH* God I loved it lol

lol reminds me why they introduced the "Clean up Britannia" program. Everyone tossing their res robes and garbage on the ground before they had an active decay system. That would bog down after awhile. I remember people used to get jailed for leaving trash around.

The reason why luna is so popular is due to the fact that luna has a lot of important vendors for supplies, right in the heart of the city with TONS of housing options which are very close to the city, which is attractive to vendors.

Britain is one of the biggest cities with the most to offer, I agree. However, the housing around britain is not as good as luna. Britain also has two branches (One in trammel and one in felucca) and these days, trammel is not a popular spot.

Anyways. Years ago, I used to play on a shard named "Crystalgate". One of my very most favorite features of this incredibly custom shard, was that you could force corpses to disappear and drop all their loot on the ground by cutting them twice with a dagger or other bladed object. The first cut would act as normal, skinning the corpse or returning the message that your efforts were for naught. The second cut would check for the first cut, then it would empty the pack to the ground and delete the corpse.

This made looting at a champ spawn very profitable, made collecting hides and scales incredibly easy, and ensured that no corpse went unturned.

This didn't work on humanoid or boss corpses, you still had to loot them the old fashioned way.

Mind you.... the decay time on items left lying around is only 25 minutes there, and this shard DID host upwards of 600 people at one time. (single accounts only, POL95 '99-'01)

Just a thought. :/

Interesting idea but not sure if it's really applicable as the future plans for instanced corpses. However, might be able to add a quick loot function where you double click an item in a loot pack to instantly retrieve it instead of having to drag it. UOKR did something similar to this that I found rather helpful.
