Yep, traded in my old system that had 98SE and the new one had ME preloaded. I had a bad feeling about that OS. Within the first 2 months it had to be reformatted twice, the first one was free, being a new system, the second time it cost me 90.00. The third time it was a BSOD and I had to figure it out for myself since it was getting to be a money pit!
It took me 7 hours to get it going again, but I did it, not knowing much about pcs at the time.

The good ol' BSOD. I have not seen that in a while. I freaked someone out at school since they were describing me this "blue screen with writting on it" as we walked to the lab so I can help her with the computer, and I mentioned "oh, the blue screen of death". "the what? Dont' scare me like that!".
Turns out this is a Win2K machine - and when you get a BSOD on win2k, you're doomed! I don't have the type of permissions teachers have with PCs so the teacher put the HD in the other PC and it worked, they always have problems with the video editting machine. lol

The only thing I knew, was to put the ME cd in and get to a help menu. It was all trial and error...I was brain dead afterwards and was never sure how I did it.

These things are not always easy for everyone.
The first time I clean installed Windows, I was freaking out the whole way, and when everything was working, I was so proud of myself.
It gets worse, when I was a kid I'd make a picture in paint and print it and be all proud of my "art".
I guess it has to start somewhere.

Yep, 90.00 for a reformat will certainly get you motivated! Just figured if I was going to have a pc I would need to learn some things for myself!

It costed you 90.00 to get it formated? Unless I missunderstood. If not, that's expensive!

Looks like I'll be busy once people know about my business.

Most people would rather pay to have things done than learn to do it themselves...too time consuming to learn. Good for business though.
I was in the pc store and a guy came in, said lightning had hit his scanner...they never bothered to tell him why!

hehe, first time I hear that. If it hit his scanner, chances are it hit the PC as well. lol This is most likely a great way to break a warranty - he's suppost to unplug durring storms.
I'm sure I'll get people like that though. Like people who "install" a firewall with a ligher...
