So I think i got that dumb virus about virus removal tool. I got a damn pop up from ISO Hunt site that said pretty much what onykage was talking about. And my computer is running like cold molassas right now. Takes damn near 5 minutes for it to boot up and then another for any apps to come up...
I ran my malware program but it found only one item in my registry... Is there a way to get it removed without a reformat?? I really have way to much on my computer to format without spending hours moving pics of my kids and family events from one comp to another....
If I gotta then I gotta but don really wanna....

Best bet is make sure a backup job runs (you DO have backups, right? :p) then do deep search the registry for weird stuff. Get rid of all startup programs (not just startup folder but the registry stuff too). Check stuff like your system.ini and win.ini files for anything weird.
A lot of times if I don't know what a dll or exe is for simply putting it in google will give you good info.

I got a partition with my original op on it. Will Eusing Registry Cleaner work you think. And EUSING is the name not saying using a registry cleaner..
I have heard good things about it but have never tried it....

speaking of the Konficker virus or w/e it's called I just deployed a patch to over 500 PCs today to fix that exploit.
It should install when people reboot. I have my fingers crossed.
Sometimes the patches do more damage when the unpatched exploits.

Y2K was a complete joke, I know the days following up to Y2K everybody was freaking and the T.V was telling me I should be collecting kegs of water, the only thing I was worried about tbh was stocking up on alcohol incase the stores lost power and I had no way to fuel up.
True, it was pretty much a way for companies to take advantage and scare people into buying their crap due to a simple legacy system revision. At least quite a few COBOL programmers got a second win and made some big bucks fixing stuff up.
