lancefer wrote:Reduced AoA's? They are completely ungetable now, My wife and I have not cut down on our playtime this last week, and since the change we have gone from about 10 lesser AoA's and maybe 1 greater a day (which really is alot) - to NONE a day. My wife got 1 (her first since the change) on the last spawn we did (a gravestone). What the hell???
What I like most about this shard is we dont have to wait to long to get our charactures where we want them to be. It really comes down to how we configure our char's and actual gameplay when in battle. Also, we can "play" the game without too much interferance from PK'ers, but...when there is trouble, it's usually all in fun (hehe, minimal cursetime).
Most of you guys have seen my house (Ids on corner luna plot) and can see how many lessers I've collected...probably hundreds including the ones I gave away. The black tables are greater AoAs, and I've gotten 3 so far, which is about 1 chance out of 100 to get a greater rather than a lesser. This (if I continue to put in 10 hours a day gametime) comes to 1 Greater AOA every two years. (I am not including the 4 tigerteeths gotten before they were tagged as Greaters).
Killing a boss. You get scrolls, you get a skull. We got enough skulls to do three harrowers in the last 3-4 days - and 1 gravestone. This can't be bad luck - and yes we were over 10k fame, 90% of the time.
So much for configuring your character the way you want, I try to collect 1 of everything so I can try different items and see how they par with other players, is it possible to up the percentage chance of getting a greater?
We both have gotten discouraged, are we being punished for something? It's what it feels like.
The reason the formula was changed was to balance the economy. In the beginning, they were incredibly easy to get until the right formula was tweaked. If you've seen a couple of posts, people are offering items but don't want AOA's for them. Kind of like what happened on demise before with tot. When you could get tots like mad, they were worth very little. I'm sure after the economy has balanced itself out, the formula will be brought back to a considerable amount.

All I have to say Lance is you have... EVERYTHING. lol. You've got more then enough items currently to hold yourself off and build enough characters to keep you happy for a while. I mean, I've got like.... 5 fully suited characters, and you've got atleast triple what I do.
I'm sure you'll be alright buddy.

Yeah also the grim reapers special was meant to be as a completely 2nd special to an existing template, rather then people building a spawning template 100% around that weapon. So the 10 minute will let you spawn maybe once or twice per champ spawn (depending which one you're doing)
One could easily solo gaunt with one before, as well. Now its quite harder.

Hey, my name is not "One"
. And I didn't change my template one bit after getting the strike. But yeah, 10 minutes for me at least makes the weapon useless. It's not worth carrying around anymore. Maybe keep the same delay but make it spawn only skele drags and lich lords?

Yea, something I noticed on the GR is the Skellys, sometimes none, sometimes three, the rest is trash...completly unhealpful. Maybe having it summon one skelly every minute would be a good compromise (or when mana comes back up) as it would be very dificult to lag the system with one dragon. It was all the other stuff coming up getting the attention of the monster spawn, system calculating all the hit damage at once - what baggage! I would really hate to see the GR become a lesser.
Hehe, yea Eby, I know...I have no room to complain, I have an aweful lot of stuff, but the real fun is going out there and tackling Oaks with my wife and getting a reward. No more rewards, not much fun.
You have to remember too, I have spent every waking moment playing for the last 80 days - just as well, I really needed to get some sleep! LOL

Well I could set it to like 5 minutes. The problem is people with insane mana regen who can just spam it non stop, adding a couple hundred mobiles on the shard within seconds. I was watching the CPU usage % jump all over the place when a couple people were using it at same time. We're on a entry level server. Once I get a full time job and am established in my own house and have a car and all that, and/if have spare income, I'll be able to upgrade to something better where I don't have to worry about these things so much. The more powerful the server, the more per month. Add a stick of ram, and I pay for that stick of ram over and over.... it's how data centers work.
Also the chance of arty is exactly the same chances as a paragon. I copied the formula exactly. Only difference is no arties on low end mobs, and luck is capped at 1k but getting 1k luck on a pvp suit is not really an easy task so I don't think that cap is an issue, and there's the timers, which simply reduce odds, not stop. Really, this change should only have affected people who are afk gathering arties. Spend an hour killing shadow wyrms or demons and I can guarantee you'll get one.

Okay, so I understand, confim please...
I need a 1000 luck suit when fighting in T2A, or Fel?
And they will only be gotten from greater monsters? 3rd? 4th level?
Do I still need to walk around 15 tiles to reset the timer?
Will the amount of damage per/time variable have any bearing?
Will the amount of kills per/time variable have any bearing?
Awe heck, why dont you just post the code! heheLOL

All the info is posted in the L2P section, but if you want the actual code, this is it:
Code: Select all
public static void HandleKill( Mobile victim, Mobile killer )
{
PlayerMobile pm = killer as PlayerMobile;
BaseCreature bc = victim as BaseCreature;
if( !Enabled || pm == null || bc == null || !CheckLocation( bc ) || !CheckLocation( pm )|| !killer.InRange( victim, 100 ))
return;
if( bc.Controlled || bc.Owners.Count > 0 || bc.Fame <= 5000 )
return;
//check if they are close to the location of last arty, if yes, no arty for them
int xoffset = pm.X-pm.AoA_lastspot.X;
int yoffset = pm.Y-pm.AoA_lastspot.Y;
if(xoffset<0)xoffset*=-1;
if(yoffset<0)yoffset*=-1;
if(xoffset<5 && yoffset<5 && pm.Map==pm.AoA_lastmap)return;
double luck= (double)pm.Luck;
if(luck>1000)luck=1000;
double fame = bc.Fame;
double chance = 1 / ( Math.Max( 10, 100 * ( 0.83 - Math.Round( Math.Log( Math.Round( fame / 6000, 3 ) + 0.001, 10 ), 3 ) ) ) * ( 100 - Math.Sqrt( luck ) ) / 100.0 );
DateTime lastdrop = pm.AoA_Last;
double chancemodifyer=1;
if(DateTime.Now<lastdrop + TimeSpan.FromMinutes(1)) chancemodifyer=0.01;
else if(DateTime.Now<lastdrop + TimeSpan.FromMinutes(5)) chancemodifyer=0.25;
else if(DateTime.Now<lastdrop + TimeSpan.FromMinutes(10)) chancemodifyer=0.5;
else if(DateTime.Now<lastdrop + TimeSpan.FromHours(1)) chancemodifyer=0.75;
if(chance>0.1)chance=0.1; //no more than 10% chance
chance*=chancemodifyer; //yes I am evil, I put this AFTER the other check.
//pm.SendMessage("chance: {0} fame: {1} modifyer: {2}" ,chance, fame ,chancemodifyer); //debug
bool greater=false;
if((chance>Utility.RandomDouble())&&(pm.Fame>=10000))
{
Item i = null;
try
{
if((Utility.Random(10)==5)&&(bc.Fame>=15000))
{
i = Activator.CreateInstance( m_GreaterArtifacts[Utility.Random( m_LesserArtifacts.Length )] ) as Item;
greater=true;
}
else
{
i = Activator.CreateInstance( m_LesserArtifacts[Utility.Random( m_LesserArtifacts.Length )] ) as Item;
greater=false;
}
}
catch
{ }
if( i != null )
{
if( pm.AddToBackpack( i ) )
{
pm.AoA_Last=DateTime.Now;
pm.AoA_lastspot=pm.Location;
pm.AoA_lastmap=pm.Map;
if(greater)pm.SendMessage(200, "You have been rewarded a greater artifact of assimilation!" );
else pm.SendMessage(200, "You have been rewarded an artifact of assimilation!" );
}
else
{
//Place in bank possibly?
i.Delete();
}
}
}
}
You don't need luck, but it will help your chances. Most of mine I've gotten with like 0 luck. Lesser spawns won't give any (this is the source of the flooding - most are gotten in mass by small spawn). The 10 tile thing is a set location. If you're moving around, its seamless. if your standing in one spot and get an arty then you can't get one if you stay there, you have to move somewhere else. But as your fighting you're most likely moving around.

the strike is a great weapon it just needs a great way to handle it.. so far its coming along better i think it should require some deamon bones maybe 1 per use and it should be used every 5 mins 10 deamon bones isnt that much to carry

I only have about an hour a day that i can play. And if I get ganked then spend 30 mins getting my body back or looking for another spot to hit I dont get anything. I was AFK macroing in FEL. If I got pked then that was my problem. I am only after three greater AOA's and the farming was to get them. I would love to turn in 10-15 lessers for a greater AoA. or hell even a random arty deed. That way at least i have a chance at a greater or doom arty. If I had the three greaters I would be able to focus on exploring and playing the game.
My only complaint is having to move but i am working on that as we speak.

Me and Squirrel actually tried to make it like TOTs, but lets just say it didnt work well for two reasons:
We arent real C# coders. Being it that I know very little, and squirrel is a newbie coder.
Gumps, we cant change them. (we dont know if its possible or how to)
So he came with the idea of 1/10 chance of comming a GAoA. Sure, that'd be wicked. I even wanted to put a tag in the weapon "Greater" but It didnt work well. Right, he checked the paragon code and copied it so he could actually modify and turn it into a new one for Fel.
We had... four stages of AoA's drop rate:
The one I call Golden, is the one where it was SUPER easy to get, when we first introduced them. You could easily get over 10 per coon spawn with 1000 luck.
The second one was the first nerf, where squirrel tweaked them a bit, was something arround 1/3 chance of getting a ltot in tokuno.
The third I cant recall atm, but I know they were being super hard to get.
And this last one, which I find the most balanced system Ryan coded, where you actually have a challenge to gather them. He nerfed the minimum fame from 10k (lord title) to 5k, and made the drop rate exactly like paragons. The main nerf was the inability to get items from monsters with below 7k fame (snakes, slimes, rats, etc).
Ill give a tip though, make a necro tamer, with a pack of 1slot-killing machines, like dreads, rabids, hell hounds, you name it. Afterwards, search for high fame monsters (starting from daemons preferably) in a spot where they spawn fast. A pack of fully trained rabid squirrels can take down almost anything spawned in fel in a couple seconds.

We did. The best we could get was it showing props and all, but still showing the Gtots' gumps. (like, a deathspell'd be a rbc on the gump).

The issue is the gumps use server side strings (cliloc) and there's no way of changing that, that I know of. It uses IDs for the button names instead of strings.
But that said, the casino idea is more unique.

Once I get around to coding it (I have lot of crap going on with college atm since its near the end) it will be a device you drop artifacts on and have a 10% chance of getting a reward which can be a greater AoA. There may be other games involving artifacts.

I just got 3 in the time frame of an hour or so. My 2nd one was actually kind of funny since I was killing a mob at the same 10x10 area as my previous so I decided to lure it a bit off that area and finished it off and got arty.
I had a cool idea, I'll impliment an option that players can toggle to enable displaying the arty chance per kill. I'll make it work for paragons, doom and tots too.
