Resists is like 70% of your survival right there. The rest is in your template and dependency equipment, and how good you are at using it. (so your healing timing, etc)
Don't even need full 70's. I survive without out but it does hurt in some situations.
I bet the explo fs breath wave combo is a good example of that. Then again, in some situations, resist is useless. My golden bullet act is another good example of that.

Touchee. But by how much he fires off spells, even with full resists he would have just fired more :P. There's kill and overkill :P.

BTW thanks for fixing the PoF thing. I have a ton of one use bottles.
You hit the nail on the head there. People expect too much, and don't realize how much harder stuff is to get on other shards.

Lets take a look at how hard it is to get a runic hammer on a typical shard. I wont even go up to valorite, lets just say bronze.

These are the requirements to get such hammer (or really, any specific item).

You need to get a bronze bod. Just that alone, is VERY rare. You have better chance to camp gaunt for half an hour and get an arty.

Ok, so lets say you get a bronze deed for 15 exeptional plate chest. Ok, great. Fill it. Over? not even CLOSE.

Now you need to get a bronze large bod, for 15 exceptional, that includes plate chest in it. Now get this, it has to be 15, and it has to be exceptional. Now, some bods can ask for 5, some can ask for 10, some can ask for 20, etc... some can ask for non exceptional. So already, there's about 8 different possibilities, just for bronze, for that one bod (which you need more of).

There are 9 metals. So even if you do get a large bod that contains plate chest, theres about 1/72 chance that its the right one.

Ok so lets say you do get lucky and its the right one.

Now say it wants 3 items. Plate chest, plate gloves, long sword.

Great, now you need to get a bod for plate gloves AND a bod for long sword BUT they have to be bronze, AND ask for 15, AND be exeptional!

I'm not good at math so I'm not even going to start calculating those odds. Keep in mind that like 99.9% of the time the bods they give you are iron.

Now, look at the blacksmithy menu and all the stuff you can create. Even if you DO get a small bronze bod asking for 15 exeptional, what are the odds its the item you need?

See where I'm getting at here people? Even with the quest bug, you have a WAY better chance of getting something decent.

Once I fix it, then it will be even higher chance.

A big shard with over 400 online at any given time, has only seen a valorite runic hammer maybe 5 times, in like 5 years. That's 1 per year.

At this very moment this shard has 454 runic hammers.

I've been working around the clock to redesign the bod system so its easier to control the prize drops, but quite frankly after seeing how people quit for the most retarded reasons, I'm starting to wonder if I should call it quits myself and stop coding for the free shard. I have a C++ project on the back burner, and it could actually earn me money once its done.

I have a passion for working on the shard and seeing that people enjoy the shard, but if people ditch my work for a retarded reason such as not getting easy ubber items, then I tend to loose that passion. Back in the day, people used to actually be willing to work for their stuff. Now its all about macros, scripts and easy everything. As soon as there's a bit of a challenge then its consider "bugged" or "sucks".

If you want to see hard, play OSI. Everything is harder there compared to here. Even the monster AI here is a joke compared to the one on OSI.

I just had to vent...

The odds of getting a bronze hammer is about equal to the one of getting an orny, actually. But yeah, Red's totally right there. I remember people asking me where was the custom stuff so they could check it out, try it, WORK for their stuff. People were happy even with a single 20% LRC piece. People really got to think at the countless tweaks that Red and Bartok have added just so YOU could have a pleasant game play. I added a few things way earlier too, but I can't even compare to not even a single fraction of what those two have done.

So, seriously, if you think you have the right to dish out on this shard, to just quit because you are not pleased with something, I hope you DIAF.

To be fair, bronze hammers aren't too hard to get on the normal bod system so I'd wager your analysis being equal to that of a gold runic hammer. Other shards have numerous players with which to trade so it's not "as" painful to do. Here it would take exponentially a lot longer to collect and would pretty much be "the best scripter who can collect and fill the most bods while afk before staff notices and jails" scenario.

There does seem to be some kind of void between new player to beginning player though (There seems to be enough for seasoned players to be a challenge though). Throughout the next few months we'll look at creating more options for new/beginner players so that they don't immediately zoom to the hardest areas to get items.

It's not the difficulty, it's pure odds. There are fewer artifacts than there are BOD types.
