This casting speed cripple is EXTREMLY noticable in PvP. You have now made it so mages can not heal at all.
Gimps, er, dexxers have bandages which they can spam all they want and as long as they have the mana they can spam specials/"spells" all they want. I do have to agree that I don't get why you buff gimps, er, sorry, keep doing that, dexxers, and constantly cripple mages.
Mages ARE over powered, but you have to realize that they are over powered because they are FAR harder to learn to play than a simpleton dexxer. A dexxer needs what, 5 hotkeys? Primary, secondary specials, Consecrate, Divine Fury, and bandself? GG
A pure mage has 64 spells they have at their fingertips they can set to hotkeys and at least half of them are viable in PvP. A necro mage has another 18 spells at their disposal. A mage also has to count in timing (something Squirrel, you claim to understand yet you have taken away the ability to time anything) because they have to learn to cast, wait for target, target, then get another spell out before they get disrupted or their target heals.
Sure, there might be scripts out there that can do all that for you, but who do you think does that here? d. might, but who can really tell. I know he does something that is extrodinarily bullshit and maybe this recent pot change will help that.
Edit: Well, it seems to have been changed. Still can't hold down the button, but FCR seems to be better anyway.

I agree with Beeze on some of this stuff. The FCR thing makes it harder to take on groups of stuff with wither. It has taken a little to get used to, but champs aren't impossible. Bedlam is a tough one though. That being said, it would be nice if wither was an exception to the rule, since it was nerfed out of pvp a LONG time ago.
I am already seeing an increase in dexxers. If I keep getting killed, I am gonna make the original Doc into a necro macer.

Actually.....now that you mention wither, we could possibly increase it for pvp because of the new wither change (Wither does more damage the more targets you hit). If you're using wither against one person, it's not going to do much. But if you go in and try to wither another guild, it would do a lot more damage the more targets it hits. This balsy move could give you an edge in damage but at a risk.

IIRC, wither was nerfed right after eby and I started using it in the duel arena. We could get a player redlined before they made it across the pit.
The downside of that was that people used it as a defense against raids. Some newbs who will remain nameless, but their name rhymes with Seco Melgred, would just run in and try to get a hit. By the time he got to me, I had hit him with 3 or 4 withers and a painspike or fireball would usually finish him off.

Damn.....that could be anyone.
Ya, the reason you state was pretty much the reason it was crunched in pvp. A whole guild of necromancers in wraith form could pretty much ruin anything by walking in and just withering. If you were standing there, you'd get killed in less than 7 seconds.

yea, well, this nerf has killed pvp. Mages should stand no chance against dexxers now. Dexxers were a pain to fight before this patch. Now dexxers hit different, swing faster, and mages are much slower. Think about how much this nerf affects them, if they get the delay every other spell, and mages are casting dozens of spells a minute. AoS should be nothing less than 2/6.
You guys origionally stated this "fcr change" would not be noticable and would only stop people form using 3pp to cast. Well, with just UO macros mage is noticably slower and weaker to everyone who actually plays mage on here.
TBH if this server was like this when I first started playing way back when, I wouldn't have given it the light of day, because anything less than 2/6 in AoS (especially on a server were you can make 130hp,160stam,100+mana dexxers with max sdi, 1.25sec/swing) isa total joke. I told 20+ of my buddies in vent about this server and this patch, and they just about cried laughing because they know me and damien used to put so much time in on here, and now the shard isn't worth playing. This is such a huge change in a mages world, and it looks like you guys want to keep it that way.
If anyone wants to play me, their mage vs my dexxer, I will bet 50kk gold + a set of all gtots that I will win, mages are not viable anymore, not even close.

To clarify things, we are working to increase the spell casting speed. I have not yet tested the speeds personally as I have been busy. Therefore, the casting will likely be increased.

I'll be removing that code.
But in the future if anyone complains about a hacker that is doing stuff like running and casting, I will completely ignore it. I tried.

A few things to say:
1) Thank you for trying to counter "hacking" on here, was a good attempt.
2) Thank you for realizing it affected all us honest mages equally, and that it took away from the enjoyment of the game for all mages.
3) I never said "GREAT JOB!" with the rest of the patch, persoanlly I love it. I think dexxers did need a slight boost (minus nerfing mages ofc =]) and I love the new defensive mastery, and how it coincides with the new healing over 100+ resists. Also I need to try out the new pots and some other things, but overall I say it looks pretty fun.
1 question though, will yamandons or bone demons be getting their loot increased slighty? I know I made a post a bit ago and death seemed to pretty much agree with it. I don't really need to pvm at all anymore, but I think if other people are taking the time to fight yamandons (pain in the ass) and do the bone demon quest, the loot maybe should be a bit better for them =p hehe.

I was actually going to bump that during my break a few weeks ago but unfortunately, I never DID get that break so it's still on my todo list. Therefore, when I have time I'll be getting to that todo list (Masterpiece resource and point system is also on that list).

Red, don't give up just because an idea did not work. The FCR thing effected pretty much anyone who used razor or even default uo macros to combo spells. Even after I put in .50 delays, my combos would only work half of the time without the recovery message. I think everyone appreciates the fact that you are trying to discourage hacking, whether or not it is actually going on.
Let me give a great example of a person who did not let failure slow him down. One of the truly great quarterbacks of all time recently retired. He broke almost every QB record worth having. BUT, he also had the most interceptions of all time. Imagine if he had given up after the first interception. I bet he heard a lot of criticizm for those picks during his career, but he didn't let that stop him from trying. On the big D, they just ban people that they think are hacking. Some deserve it, some don't. Almost all of them say that they were innocent. At least you tried to stop it instead of waving around the ban stick.

ah, neat. Yea, once the casting is fixed I think me and Damien are going to start playing again bit, the shard has been growing so we will be giving plenty of stuff to newer players, and doing some other fun stuff. (Players, expect to see some fun events ran by the =R= guild soon =]).

I also agree with doc. Perhaps we can all brainstorm ways to prevent hacking, and don't be discouraged because the first attempt didn't work as planned. Im sure we can all figure out something in the future, this shard continues to grow and gain more and more, it will happen eventually =].

I do not see any flaw in my reasoning. There are some good things about OSI and some bad things. If OSI was the perfect goal to strive for, no one would be playing here, right? Not everything is black and white. If it was, we would already have the uber tameable dragons that OSI currently has, but we don't, do we? You also cannot be the same as OSI without OSI's playerbase.
My question still stands. Why was this changed now when it was in place since the inception of the shard? Do you guys think that it somehow detracts from gameplay? It's the same old argument, toning down the players while buffing the mobs when most of the time there is insufficient shard population logged on to tackle the more interesting and rewarding activities. OSI can afford this because they have hundreds of players on at all times. I.e. I could log on at any time and find bunches of people to do a peerless with. Now that double-slayers do not stack, there's no way in hell any peerless can be soloed, unless you like to spend 4 hours beating on one mob. Take a look at the Submersia peerless. It's brilliant, but it was specifically designed to not be possible with less than 3 people. So how many times has it been done? I bet less than 10 times total, ever. It's just a shame. OSI also has instanced corpses which makes doing a peerless with multiple players actually worth it, instead of getting a seizure trying to grab stuff from a corpse as fast as you can.
And yes I know what everyone will say, "but those things were not meant to be soloed". Ok sure, but for these things there are meant to be hundreds of people online, and there are meant to be instanced corpses. I think some changes need to be a prerequisite for others.
