My list of programs incudes the GIMP, Openoffice.org, Irfanview, and Soundforge, and of course Foobar2000 for my primary media player. I do have others installed for video which are rarely used. Word 2000 is the only MS app that I actually 'need' due to Openoffice's poor table creation.
Webbrowsing is Opera and Firefox

my win2k crashbox has Real player/Itunes :doublepuke: , Wordperfect 12, the whole MS Office 2000 suite and other things on there that stay the hell away from my main system.

forgot about 7-zip, much better than that ugly beast winzip I used many years back.
edit: grammatical fix

Woah! The interface has changed a bit since I last used it.

Samba is another program I can't live without. It's one of those back end install and forget things, but it runs a huge chunk of my network, so it's important as part of my server install. :P

I'm looking forward to when it supports active directory more, too.

Another one to add Kompozer - which is the successor to NVU. I am not trying to do the 'created all from scratch in notepad route' and this strikes a nice balance.

I have had inkscape sitting on my server for some time but have yet to install it . The versions are (I just checked) are 0.43.2 and 0.45.1

I have noticed that 'K' is overused for the *nix/opensource world.

The interface confuses me. (Why are preferences under File?) I find myself using the GIMP even if I should be working with vectors.
