equipment limitations?

Must be the discarded nutshells getting into the Nic or router on your end. No 'equipment limitations' here on this end.

your nic may only be a 10/100 Nic.. so this means your max is 100

My motherboard has one thats built in 100/1000

I got a 1000mbpis one in my server but linux red hat does not support it. But my router is 10/100 anyway. Eventually I'll want to go gigabit. Even if I don't get network cards right away, at least it would make it so it can carry more traffic at the same time.

Its nice for home networks with every pc with the same nic.. but internet is not that fast yet... But does come handy with server apps

Nobody beats me though, it does not only get warm, but I fried the modem! Seriously! the modem decided to stop working and it was fried from what I assume is overuse. I have a new one now but I think I may need to shove a few fans in there.

no external, just a box that plugs into my phone jack via phone line then plugs into my uplink via ethernet.

My isp has decent common sense with that. I know some isps give a usb modem which sucks when it comes to networking, it's possible, just more trouble.

Oh.. LOL Ok my ISP gives me one with the option of ethernet and USB but usb is not good for older servers or pc's plus the stupid software that has to be installed

Plus on top of that USB is limited to ten Mbps
