Try turning off the firewall completely before you launch Outlook Express.
If it still fails, it's not the firewall.
Did you download that fix for OE after you install IE 7?

richard. i am not sure if it worked just now or not.
but once again it did not ask me for the okay or cancel button to be pushed.
so it is either ms finally kicked in and worked? atleast once? or it is this other item i changed just now.
go in to options for AVG email device and change it from business config to personel config. see if that will fix yours? i am going to need to check it out for a couple days but i just did that and checked for hotmail with outlook express and got no error. so something fixed it that time? but its been fixed before too you know.

da............... it all anyway.
the dadgum thing is back to tossing the error.
it happens after i get off line and back on line the error thus starts returning.
so fixing it online makes it work for that online session only.
i did find out thought that it is in fact an error in outlook express as in not being
able to see the internet connection when first trying to connect.?
just can not find out how to make it work all the time.

ROFLMAO
If it still doesn't work turn off your firewall & see
Then turn off your AVG & see
Check the connections setting under each account & see if it set to connect the way Internet Explorer connects
In other words the check box should be unchecked
It should be set for any connection available
Isolate the problem

this seems to have been fixed again but this time it was not by me.
it was by microsoft. they did an update to their authentication software.
and it seems to have fixed this since it now no longer toss's the error alert when i try and get email.
atleast it has not done so the last five times i got email and i even got offline and rebooted the computer just to make sure i was not seeing things?
i just checked again before i posted this. and it worked again.
so maybe microsoft can fix their own errors??
i know richardj you have a different situation. but i found that weds... or tues day some one posted a file on major geeks to get all the ms patches that came out this month. so maybe that will help you.?

Actually,
I haven't had any problems since I switched to Desktop Live.
I'm glad your problem is fixed
You never sent me that MS patch either
Sigh
Anyway, now I can't view YouTube videos
Fix that for me.
