IIRC on OSI there are no earrings with mods... I also think it's kinda stupid that eye glasses do not occupy the earring slot on OSI.

There are also OSI artifacts we don't even have here that are very comparable to some of the customs, i.e. Crystalline Ring, Lieutenant of The Britannian Royal Guard, Djinni's Ring, Gladiator's Collar, etc.
That's right, there's a lot of custom artifacts that are very similar to OSI artifacts. Death shroud is remarkably similar to OSI's conjurer's garb cept for the LRC VS LUCK properties (on the high end version of conjurer's).

A lot of the really good OSI artifacts are of considerable difficulty or time to obtain however. Collection rewards require you to clean out your house and bank to collect points while champion spawn artifacts require luck of the draw and also come with a durability penalty that cannot be increased by fortification.

I believe OSI made glasses take the head slot for the purpose of creating a unique type of helm (glasses are worn on the head). They also follow the tradition of the whole earrings slot as there are a few rare earrings out there such as nocturnes and protection earrings. These earrings have very few properties but are incredibly prized due to them taking a slot that normally doesn't have properties attached to it. Same idea with the apron slot for crimson cincture and the sash slot.

If the glasses had taken the earrings slot, we wouldn't have glasses with such exceptional bonuses. They would have likely been comparable to special earrings. There would probably be a helm + glasses conflict too, particularly with something like a close helm.

We did not forget about the shard

Just a quick little update. So me and Death were talking the other day, and in order to speed things up we agreed that I try to wrap up the data storage system (may not even use SQL, I have a better plan).

I am coding a data storage engine in C++, and the shard will be writing data to this app. It will be optimized for the type of data the shard needs to save, so it should be faster. I will probably also forget the idea of fully real time saves, and instead have snap shots, so if the shard crashes or is badly shut down (Which is rare anyway) there would still be a revert, but at least the save would be atomic. Part of the issues I was troubleshooting were because currently, data is not atomic. The custom data storage engine will take care of atomicity.

Once the data storage system is ready I will announce another beta test on TC1 so we can release that to live.

This will eliminate world saves, as well as fix other bugs that we have not been able to address on live, as well as bring us up to par with EA's latest patch.

I am not promising any date for this though, but it will be faster then the original plan. The actual revamp of game content may come at a later time though, but we will try to speed that up more as well. There is still lot of major systems that need to be recoded for the new content to be easily added in.
