Lol, same thing has happened to me Flowergirl. Kinda.
I was bored one day and went to LiveIreland.com radio station to see how well I could get the Irish accent down. I got the hang of it rather quickly. I didn't notice, until my friend pointed out to me, that I was saying words that you'd here in Ireland. Like lad, em (em replaces uh and um), bollocks, knacker, replacing 'me' with 'my'. The funny part is that I used my original voice, no Irish accent. My pacific northwest accent (apparently we do have one. and they say us Oregonian's have the heaviest slur and mumble) so it sounded very weird.

I do not know of this accent, but perhaps I am too close to it after spending 20+ years in that state.
I started to pick up that Texas accent after just a brief (week and half or so) visit with relatives down there some years back.

It is a neutral accent but we mumble and and slur very, very heavily.
Friend told me to say 'duty' and I kept saying it 'dudie'. 'water' becomes 'wadder' and 'right' becomes 'rai'.
First I thought everyone said words like this. But, my friend in california was saying them correctly. Same as my friend in Minn.
The strength of our 'S' is lessened. While our M's and N's become elongated and sound the same when run into one another.
All my foreign friends say the PNW diction is the hardest english for them to understand as we're so casual and 'lazy' with it.

Your mom wouldn't look so freeky, if it didn't look like she was about to punch you, she looks like she winding up for a good jab
